Equipment Delivery <br />and Placement <br />- Back strain from lifting and moving materials <br />- Being struck by equipment or materials within <br />the work area <br />- Bodily Injury from Awkwad Lifting <br />- Earthmoving equipment (dozers, graders, <br />excavators, trenchers, rollers, compactors, <br />backhoe, skip loader) <br />- Line-of-Fire <br />- Overhead obstacles (power lines or pipelines, <br />block and tackle, lights, structures) <br />- Pinch Points <br />- Slips/Trips/Falls <br />1. Do not stand beneath items that could fall and strike you. <br />Maintain control of ALL materials and equipment being <br />unloaded. Loads or items such as temp fence panels are not <br />allowed to free fall to the ground, use tag lines to prevent <br />swinging loads. <br />2. Do not stand between fixed objects and moving <br />vehicles/equipment. <br />3. Do not place hands beneath objects between objects that <br />could cause pinching or crushing such as pallets, drums, crates, <br />etc. <br />4. Use cones, delineators, caution tape and/or snow fence to <br />identify and isolate any critical above ground features. <br />5. Visually scan the area for any overhead hazards that may <br />exist, large delivery trucks must maintain a minimum distance of <br />10' feet away from any overhead lines or hazards, drivers must <br />use a spotter to ensure safe guidance and prevent contact with <br />overhead hazards. Look for overhead utilities or piping that <br />delivery vehicles could contact, communicate potential hazards. <br />6. Allow plenty of space for off-loading of tractor trailers and <br />other delivery vehicles, ground personnel not associated with <br />these tasks is not permitted in unloading areas, do not work <br />with your back towards traffic, maintain eye contact with drivers <br />and oncoming traffic. Use cone, barricades, delineators, caution <br />tape, signage and other devices to control traffic. <br />7. Do not lift more than 50 lbs without assistance, use the buddy <br />system for heavy or awkward lifts, keep a firm grip, lift with <br />your legs not your back, do not over-reach when grabbing or <br />holding heavy objects, keep an upright posture, bend at the <br />knees. <br />8.
