Conduct Initial Inspection of <br />Confined Space--Do not enter. <br />- Oxygen Deficient Atmoshere: <br />19.5% <br />- Oxygen Enriched Atmoshere: <br />22% <br />- Toxic Atmoshere <br />1. Ventilate space for 30 minutes, verify Oxygen (O2) is >19.5% <br />2. Also verify Oxygen (O2) is <22% <br />3. Confirm Carbon Monoxide (CO): < 10 ppm, and Hydrogen <br />Sulfide (H2S): 1 ppm or less. <br />L <br />10. Set-up of Ventilation Fan and <br />Flexible Ducting <br />- Improper Set-Up <br />- Sharp objects <br />- Sprains and Strains <br />1. Ensure fan is positioned away from immediate work area and <br />where air intake supply gets adequate amounts of fresh air, use <br />intrinsically safe electirc fan if deemed necessary by competent <br />person. Review equipment manufacturer instruction manual <br />prior to use. <br />2. Be aware of hand placement and sharp edges specifcally <br />where flexible ducting connects to fan. <br />3. While positioning fan lift with your legs and not your back, <br />keep a firm grip, keep load close to your body, use mechanical <br />means or "buddy" system if too awkward or weight exceeds 50 <br />lbs. <br />M <br />11. Set-up Tri-Pod and Retrieval <br />System <br />- Faulty Equipment <br />- Improper Set-Up <br />- Pinch Points <br />1. Inspect equipment prior to use, ensure all tags and labels are <br />undamaged, check cables for signs of wear and tear, (do not use <br />retrieval systems if cable is freyed), ensure tri-pod and all <br />related hardware are satisfactory, legs pins must be push-button <br />to prevent from coming out. <br />2. Competent Person shall check final set-up prior to use. <br />3. Be aware of hand placement when opening and closing tri- <br />pod.
