14

IV. Dispenser Removal:
• Verify lockout/tag out of electrical service to dispensers.
• Remove the dispensers.
• Demolish the concrete over the product piping to expose pipe runs.
• Properly dispose/recycle the concrete, dispensers, and other related fueling
equipment.

V. Hardscape Removal/Tank Excavation:
• Break and remove approximately 1,400 square feet of 7" -- 8" thick concrete from
over the USTs.
• Load, transport, and recycle demolished concrete at a local concrete recycler.
• Excavate and stockpile UST/pipeline overburden materials. Cover all removed
material with weighted visqueen sheeting.
• Install an engineered slide rail shoring system to ensure excavation safety, given
the proximity to the planter area and sidewalk.

VI. Tank Cleaning and Removal of USTs and Product Lines:
• Drain and rinse the fuel lines back to the USTs (using gravity flow).
• Initiate triple rinsing of the UST interior and pipelines , and collect rinseate fluids.
Fluids will be containerized in totes pending characterization and off -haul.
Manifest and dispose of non -hazardous rinseate liquid at a State -permitted
recycling facility. The proposal includes disposal of up to two totes of residual
liquids and rinseate. Any additional liquid disposal will be invoiced at an extra
cost.
• Cut windows into the USTs for inspection and additional cleaning, if required.
• Inert with dry ice at a rate of 2 pounds per 100 gallons of tankage.
• Upon tank certification, load the USTs onto flatbed trucks with a hydraulic crane.
Haul the USTs offsite for proper disposal.
• Assist in obtaining confirmation samples as directed by ENGEO.
• Maintain best management practices (BMPs) and control stormwater run -off.

VII. Consulting for Closure Reporting
• Subcontract with ENGEO (environmental engineering and consulting company) to
provide environmental oversight and soil sampling
• Coordinate inspections with the CUPA.
• ENGEO will collect confirmation samples following excavation activities, including:
o Two samples from the base of each tank pit (at the ends of each tank and at a
minimum of 2 feet into native soil)
