<br />7 <br /> <br />V. Identification and Evaluation of Workplace Hazards <br /> <br />ICS uses inspections (daily, periodic, intermittent), audits, and employee feedback to <br />identify hazards. New processes, substances, or hazards trigger additional reviews. <br />Checklists and formal reports are maintained. <br />The goal of this IIPP is to identify and evaluate unsafe work conditions and practices , <br />thereby minimizing, if not eliminating, accidents, injuries, and job -related illnesses. To <br />this end, ICS has instituted the procedures described in this section of the IIPP. <br />The primary approach to proactively reducing accidents is through the use of inspection <br />checklists, which encompass both scheduled and unscheduled inspections. <br />Inspections will be conducted as follows: <br /> <br />1) Daily Inspections <br />Inspections conducted by supervisors and employees as part of their ordinary work or <br />job <br />responsibility. <br />2) Planned Periodic Inspections <br />Inspections are conducted by managers, peer-to-peer, a third-party H&S consultant, or <br />safety committee members on a semiannual basis. <br />3) Intermittent Inspections <br />Inspections made at irregular intervals, occasioned by an accident or an injury/illness <br />investigation. <br />4) Respiratory Protection Program Inspection <br />Respiratory protection will be inspected weekly by the jobsite foreman (refer to <br />Appendix. <br />C - Protection Program). <br />Other methods used to evaluate health and safety hazards posed at the workplace <br />include: <br />1) Inspection of the site by a qualified safety professional <br />2) Review of CCR Title 8 for an assessment of hazards and their potential <br />minimization through compliance with regulatory requirements. <br />3) Scrutiny of trade publications for information on hazards posed at typical job <br />sites; <br />4) Respond to employee safety questions and suggestions obtained through <br />tailgate safety sessions, direct employee-supervisor conversations, the <br />suggestion box, and other means. <br />5) Investigation of jobsite injuries and work-related illness, and
