b) Job Safety Analysis (JSA): an assessment of the hazards associated with a specific-job position. <br /> Job responsibilities are identified &analyzed for any specific-hazards or consequence that can <br /> cause an injury or fatality. Any hazards that are identified will be assessed using the hierarchy of <br /> hazard control before PPE will be implemented. <br /> c) Personal Protective Equipment(PPE): equipment designed to protect partners from serious <br /> workplace injuries or illnesses resulting from contact with chemical, physical, biological, electrical, <br /> mechanical, slips, trips, falls or any other workplace hazards. PPE includes but is not limited to hard <br /> hats, bump caps, safety glasses, face shields, safety shoes, coveralls, gloves, flame resistant <br /> clothing (FRC) and earplugs. <br /> d) Task Based Job Safety Analysis (TBJSA): an assessment of the hazards associated with a <br /> specific task. Steps required to perform the task are identified &analyzed for any specific hazards <br /> or consequence that can cause an injury or fatality. Any hazards that are identified will be assessed <br /> using the hierarchy of hazard control before PPE will be implemented. <br /> e) Visitor: any person who is not considered a partner of Cintas that visits Cintas locations for tours <br /> and other business purposes and is not performing any contractor work. <br /> 2.2 Eyewear/Face Wear <br /> a)Absorptive Lens-a filter lens whose physical properties are designed to reduce the effects of <br /> glare, reflective, and stray light. <br /> b) Face Shield - a device worn in front of the eyes and a portion of, or all of, the face. Its main <br /> function is to protect the face. If a face shield is worn, safety glasses or goggles must also be worn. <br /> c) Filter Lens/Plate - a removable pane in the window of a helmet, hood, or goggle that absorbs <br /> varying proportions of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared rays according to the composition and density <br /> of the plate. <br /> d) Goggle-a device, with contour-shaped eyecups or facial contact with glass or plastic lenses, <br /> worn over the eyes for the protection of the eyes and eye sockets from splashes. <br /> e) Hood -a device that completely covers the head, neck, and portions of the shoulders. <br /> f) Radiant Energy or Radiation - electromagnetic wave energy produced by the movement of <br /> molecules excited by the heat of an electric arc, gas flame, or the passage of an electric current. <br /> Three kinds of radiant energy pertinent to this program are: (1) ultraviolet light(2) visible light(3) <br /> infrared light. <br /> g) Shield -a device to be held in the hand, or supported without the aid of the operator, which <br /> serves as a barrier. <br /> h) Side Shield - a device of metal, plastic, or other material hinged or affixed firmly to the frame of <br /> the safety glasses to protect the eye from side exposure. <br /> 2.3 Hardhats/Helmets <br /> a) Hardhats/ Helmet-a rigid device that is worn to provide protection for the head, or portions <br /> thereof, against impact, flying particles, electric shock, or any combination thereof, which is held in <br /> place by a suitable suspension. <br /> b) Suspension -the internal cradle of the helmet which holds it in place on the head and is made up <br /> of the headband and crown straps. <br /> c) Bump caps—a rigid device that is worn on the head to provide protection from bumping into <br /> objects that may cause injuries. <br /> Cintas PPE/JSA Program Reviewed 8/15/2025 3 of 11 <br />
