a) Periodic walk-through surveys by Managers/Supervisors to identify sources of hazards, including <br /> but not limited to impact, penetration, compression, chemical, heat, dust, electrical sources, material <br /> handling, and light radiation. <br /> b) Additional hazards to evaluate include: <br /> 1. Biologic <br /> 2. Sources of electricity <br /> 3. Sources of motion such as machines or processes where movement may exist that could result <br /> in an impact between personnel and equipment <br /> 4. Sources of high temperatures that could result in burns, eye injuries or fire <br /> 5. Types of chemicals used in the workplace <br /> 6. Sources of harmful dusts <br /> 7. Sources of light radiation, such as welding, brazing, cutting, furnaces, heat treating, high <br /> intensity lights, etc. <br /> 8. The potential for falling or dropping objects <br /> 9. Sharp objects that could poke, cut, stab or puncture <br /> 10. Biologic hazards such as blood or other potentially infected material <br /> c) For any hazards identified, Managers/Supervisors will work with the Safety and Health <br /> Department to determine the suitability of the PPE presently available and as necessary select new <br /> or additional equipment. Care will be taken to recognize the possibility of multiple and simultaneous <br /> exposure to a variety of hazards. <br /> d) Industrial Hygiene Surveys as described in the Industrial Hygiene Program and Sampling Plan. <br /> 4.2 Non-Routine Tasks <br /> a) When implementing a non-routine task, material or equipment an assessment of the hazards in <br /> procedure, following permit when required, or reading the SIDS before performing the task. <br /> b) Managers/Supervisors and the partners who perform the new job task shall evaluate new <br /> anticipated work conditions or processes, via a Task Based Job Safety Analysis(TBJSA) <br /> (APPENDIX A), to determine what, if any, PPE is required to protect the worker while performing <br /> his/her job duties if not listed on the corporate JSA. Contact your Regional Safety Coordinator for <br /> guidance and approval. <br /> 4.3 Personal Protective Equipment Selection <br /> 4.3.1 PPE will only be considered as a hazard control after all other hazard control options have been <br /> considered. Any new PPE requirement will result in revisions to the position's JSA and TBJSA and <br /> reviewed with affected partners. Personal Protective Equipment will be selected according to the <br /> following Criteria: <br /> a) Protect against specific hazard(s) encountered by employee-partners. <br /> b) Comfortable to wear <br /> c) Properly fitted or sized as applicable to the specific type of PPE. <br /> d) Must not restrict vision or movement <br /> e) Durable and easy to clean and disinfect <br /> f) Must not interfere with the function of other required PPE <br /> g) Meet requirements of ANSI Z87.1-1989 for devices purchased after July 5, 1994, and ANSI <br /> Z87.1-1968 for devices purchased before that date. <br /> Cintas PPE/JSA Program Reviewed 8/15/2025 7 of 11 <br />
