4.3.2 Examples of PPE include but are not limited to. <br /> a) Eyes - Safety Glasses, Goggles - protection when exposed to hazards from compressed air, <br /> flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases, or vapors, <br /> or potentially damaging light radiat(on._Prescriptior Glasses do not provide the_same_protection a_s <br /> safety glasses so to confirm if the glasses are acceptable it will have an ANSI stamp on both the <br /> frame and lenses. <br /> b) Face - Face Shields, Goggles - protection when exposed to hazards from compressed air, flying <br /> particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases, or vapors, or <br /> potentially damaging light radiation. <br /> c) Head - Hard Hats - protection when working in areas where there is a potential for injury from <br /> falling objects. Partners exposed to electrical conductors that could come into contact with their <br /> I <br /> eads must wear protective helmets designed to reduce electrical shock hazard. <br /> d) Head — Bump Caps— protection when working in areas that might have potential injury from <br /> hitting head into a fixed object. <br /> e) Feet- Safety Shoes- protection when working in areas where there is a danger from falling or <br /> extremely heavy rolling objects, or from objects that may pierce the sole, and when feet are exposed <br /> to electrical hazards. <br /> f) Hands and Arms—Gloves - protection when hazards are encountered that could result in the <br /> absorption of harmful substances through the skin, severe cuts or lacerations, severe abrasion, <br /> punctures, chemical bums, thermal burns, or injuries caused by temperature extremes. <br /> g) Body- Protective Clothing - protect against spills and splashes that could otherwise penetrate <br /> clothing or even the skin. <br /> h) Hearing - Ear Plugs and Earmuffs- protection from excess noise or sounds. <br /> i) Fall Protection - Harnesses and Lifelines - protection from falling from elevated surfaces. <br /> 4.4 Signage <br /> Appropriate signs shall be used to warn against potential hazards and remind individuals of the <br /> need to wear certain PPE. <br /> 5.0 Procedures <br /> 5.1 a) All locations will perform a hazard assessment by completing safety audits, and through <br /> managing safety by walking around to determine the likely hazards to be present which necessitate <br /> the use of PPE. Hazards include but not limited to: <br /> 1. Hazards of process or environment <br /> 2. Chemical hazards <br /> 3. Radiological hazards <br /> 4. Mechanical Irritants <br /> b) Which are likely to be encountered in the workplace in a manner capable of causing injury or <br /> impairment to the body through: <br /> 1. Absorption <br /> 2.
