600 N Holt Road Project No.06304-01 Page 14
100 feet north, and upgradient of the Site. No other records of domestic wells in the area have been
discovered through local and/or state database searches. One record for an onsite septic system
located at 55 N Inland Road dated June 1978, reports the area is served by a Public Well System. A
records search on the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department public records site for
records pertaining to a former school located approximately 3/4-mile southwest of the Site indicate
the school (Holt Elementary School, 1545 S Holt Road) was recommended to be abandoned due to
non-potable water at the Site in 1989, although the contaminants of concern were not recorded.
Holt Elementary School officially closed in 2008. These permits are available for review in
Appendix B.
3.2.2 Exposure Pathways
Potential exposure pathways to be investigated in this site investigation include the following:
• Direct exposure to agricultural workers or residents to contaminated surface and near-
surface soil.
• Exposure to airborne dust from surface soil.
• There are no agricultural or domestic wells located on the Site. Exposure to contaminated
groundwater is not considered a complete pathway at the Site for direct human exposure to
groundwater based on the residential houses being either up or cross-gradient to the Site,
and reports of the rural residents buying imported potable water from a Public Water
System, likely a Pubic Water Well within the area.
4.0 SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS PLAN
D&D Flying Service washed the exteriors of aircrafts used for pesticide application on the
northeastern side of the runway (located at the northern edge of the project site) between 1981
through 1988. During their operations pesticide-containing rinse water from the planes drained
directly onto the soil surface. Based on the environmental concerns related to former operations at
the D&D Flying Service, the following sampling plan is presented below.
All sample locations will be recorded using a handheld sub meter Trimble GeoXH GPS device and
marked with flagging for future locating as needed. Field notes and a photographic log of sampling
event(s)will be taken during field work and included in the final report.
4.1 Location and Number of Samples
SOIL SAMPLES
Four (4) hollow-stem-auger (HSA) borings will be located as shown on Plate 3 - Proposed Boring
Map. Each boring location will be advanced to 1.5 feet below ground surface, with two subsurface
samples obtained from each location; one sample will be collected at 1.0' feet bgs and one sample
collected at 1.5-feet bgs from each location. Each sample collected will be analyzed discretely for
organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) with EPA Method 8081A with Florisil Clean-up. One co-located
duplicate sample will be obtained and analyzed. The proposed borings are shown on Plate 3 and
described in the table below:
Petralogix Engineering,Inc.
26675 Bruella Road,Galt,Ca 95632
(209)-400-5729
U
www.petralogix.com
