A=COM <br /> 4.4.1 Any required notifications shall be provided within the appropriate timeframe to the applicable <br /> organization (e.g. owner, utility company, agency, governing body, etc.). <br /> 4.4.2 All applicable permits (e.g. client, government,working near rail road, etc.)will be identified, <br /> obtained, and adhered to. <br /> 4.4.3 All access agreements will be obtained and adhered to. <br /> 4.5 Locating Underground Utilities and Subsurface Installations <br /> 4.5.1 Utilize the appropriate call/click-before-you-dig provider. Refer to S3AM-331-ATT1 One-Call <br /> System. <br /> 4.5.2 Federal/State/Provincial/Territorial and other"One Call"providers shall be contacted at least two <br /> working days and no more than ten working days prior to commencing the ground disturbance. <br /> Jurisdictional requirements shall be consulted to verify the appropriate advance notice. (e.g. 24 <br /> hours, two full working days,three to ten business days, etc.). <br /> 4.5.3 If the location of proposed excavation or intrusive subsurface work cannot be clearly and <br /> adequately identified,the route and/or area of the proposed ground disturbance shall be identified <br /> using white flags, paint or stakes prior to the arrival of the locator. Consult jurisdictional <br /> requirements as white-lining may be a mandatory requirement on all ground disturbances. <br /> 4.5.4 One Call providers shall appropriately identify and mark the subsurface utilities or installations, or <br /> otherwise provide written notification they do not have any facilities near the proposed <br /> subsurface/intrusive locations. <br /> 4.5.5 Confirm all circuits were on during subsurface checks if the checks were for identifying energized <br /> lines(e.g. circuits on timers or light sensing switches). <br /> 4.5.6 Areas that have a high density of sub-surface facilities may require a secondary locate by another <br /> independent locator to verify locations identified by the first locator. <br /> 4.6 Private Utility Locating <br /> 4.6.1 One Call services may not be available in various non-urban locations. Private utility locating <br /> companies shall be utilized to identify and located any underground utilities or subsurface <br /> installations. <br /> 4.6.2 Be aware urban areas(e.g. city or town) may have subsurface installations(e.g. underground <br /> garages)and utilities(e.g. public water, sewer, and gas pipelines)that are not covered by one-call <br /> systems. <br /> • These subsurface installations and utilities require additional investigation and diligence <br /> beyond the one-call system. <br /> • Additional investigation and diligence beyond the one-call system is also recommended for <br /> non-urban areas. <br /> 4.6.3 In urban areas, private utility locating companies shall be called to identify and locate, through <br /> geophysical surveys and other means,the presence of private utilities installed by the property <br /> owner(e.g. irrigation systems)and to verify the presence of public utilities on the properties. <br /> • Hand clearance/tolerance zones shall be observed in urban areas and utilities exposed <br /> through the use of non-destructive techniques in accordance with requirements of the <br /> applicable jurisdiction and utility owner. <br /> 4.6.4 Observance of hand clearance/tolerance zones and utility exposure using non-destructive <br /> techniques is also recommended for non-urban areas and may be required by the applicable <br /> jurisdiction. <br /> Underground Utilities(S3AM-331-PR1) <br /> Revision 2 September 30,2020 <br /> PRINTED COPIES ARE UNCONTROLLED.
