Interim Guidance for Coronaviruses - April 23, 2021 AOcom
General measures to help prevent the spread of disease include:
Stay aware of the latest information on the outbreak via WHO website, and take care of your health by doing the following:
• Stay informed on the latest developments about Coronavirus, including latest hotspots(cities or local areas where
Coronavirus is spreading widely)and follow advice given by your healthcare provider, your national and local public health
authority AECOM on how to protect yourself and others from Coronavirus. If possible, avoid traveling to these"hotspots"—
especially if you are an older person or have diabetes, heart or lung disease. Why?You have a higher chance of catching
Coronavirus in one of these areas.
• Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand rub(containing at least 60%alcohol)if your
hands are not visibly dirty. Why? If the virus is on your hands, washing your hands with soap and water or using an
alcohol-based hand rub provides a measured reduction and possible elimination of the virus.
• Practice respiratory hygiene-when coughing and sneezing, cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue—discard
tissue immediately into a closed bin and clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water. Why?
Covering your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing help prevent the spread of germs and viruses. If you
sneeze or cough into your hands, you may contaminate objects or people that you touch.
• Maintain social distancing—at least 2-meter(6 feet)distance between yourself and other people, particularly those
who are coughing,sneezing and/or have a fever.Why?When someone is infected with a respiratory disease,coughs
or sneezes project small droplets containing the virus. If you are too close, you can breathe in the virus.
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Why? Hands touch many surfaces which can be contaminated with the virus. If
you touch your eyes, nose or mouth with your contaminated hands, you can transfer the virus from the surface to
yourself.
• Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in
advance. Follow the directions of your local health authority. Why?National and local authorities will have the most
up to date information on the situation in your area.Calling in advance will allow your health care provider to quickly
direct you to the right health facility. This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other infections.
• Meetings with large groups is currently prohibited and for smaller, essential meetings practice social distancing(6
feet/2-metres apart or to local regulations)or consider use of Teams, having people join via their desk rather than
congregating.
• AECOM is withdrawing from all industry events that require travel and attendance at non-business essential public
forums(e.g.,conferences,conventions,training seminars) is not allowed at this time.
• Ensure office spaces, particularly meetings rooms, are regularly cleaned (reference AECOM Infectious Disease and
Pandemic Cleaning Instruction for guidance).A supply of hand sanitizer should be available at reception, breakout
areas and meetings rooms(or access to other hand washing facilities)and ensure there is a ready supply of hand wash
in bathrooms and kitchen areas. Post current posters on good hygiene and social distancing practices.
• Where possible improve the quality of airflow through opening windows and doors and for projects sites if conducting
meetings e.g. prestart safety brief try and do this outside in an area that has good circulation.
Noting AECOM restrictions and travel advice above, for those staff that are required to undertake approved domestic or
international travel please reference the following tips to stay healthy while travelling:
• Practice social distancing where possible,avoiding close contact(at least 6-feet/2 meters,or to local regulations)with
people suffering from a fever or cough.Certain locations also require use of masks/face-coverings as a condition of
travel.
• Avoid travelling if you are unwell and if during travel you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing inform crew,
seek medical care and share your previous travel history with your medical provider.
• Always practice good hand hygiene and try and carry hand sanitizer with you if possible.
• When coughing/sneezing cover mouth or nose with flexed elbow or tissue(single use)and wash hands.
• Eat only well-cooked food.
• Avoid spitting in public.
Access to Employee Assistance Program:
For any employees who may be directly or indirectly impacted by Coronavirus, such as those who may be required to undergo
quarantine periods or face travel restrictions,a reminder that AECOM provides access to Employee Assistance Programs(EAP)
to all AECOM employees, eligible dependents and family members living in the same household.AECOM's EAP is a completely
confidential service provided through ComPsych®GuidanceResources®Worldwide.
