WORK PLAN FOR ADDITIONAL SITE INVESTIGATION Irerracon
Vacant Property Tracy, California
April 16, 2021 Terracon Project No. NA197074B
Advancing five soil borings (SB17, and SB19 through SB22) to a depth of approximately
30 feet bgs at locations shown on Exhibit 3. Up to two soil samples will be collected from
each 30-foot deep soil borings based on visual or field screening observations;
Advancing four soil borings (SB23 through SB26) to a depth of approximately 2 feet bgs in
the area of the former soil stockpiles;
Field screening and logging of soils during drilling by an experienced field scientist under
the direction of a California licensed Professional Geologist;
Collection of soil and groundwater samples in laboratory-provided containers, with
preservation as required for soil and groundwater samples, and following chain-of-custody
protocols delivering the samples to a California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation
Program (ELAP) certified laboratory; and,
Analyses of soil samples and groundwater samples for total petroleum hydrocarbons as
gasoline, diesel, and motor oil (TPH-g, TPH-d, and TPH-mo) by EPA Method 8015M, and
volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by EPA Method 826013; and,
2.2.3 Sampling and Laboratory Analytical Program
A total of 10 soil borings will be advanced at the site. A description of the sampling points,
construction and sampling is presented below. Refer to the attached Exhibit 3 -Site Detail for the
proposed boring locations.
Drilling services for the proposed soil borings will be performed by a State-of-California C-57
licensed driller using a truck- or track-mounted direct-push technology (DPT) rig with capabilities
to also use hollow-stem auger drilling if refusal is encountered using DPT. The drilling will be
performed under the supervision of a Terracon environmental professional and the oversight of a
Terracon licensed Professional Geologist (P.G.).
Soil samples will be collected continuously using single-use acetate liners to document lithology,
color and relative moisture content. In addition, the samples will be field screened using sensory
methods and a photoionization detector (PID) to detect the presence of total organic vapors.
Drilling and sampling equipment will be cleaned using an Alconox wash and potable water rinse
prior to the beginning of the project and before collecting each soil sample.
Two soil samples will be collected from each boring and submitted for laboratory analysis. The soil
samples submitted for laboratory analysis will be collected from the zones exhibiting the highest
volatile vapor readings or the interval of most-likely environmental impact as determined in the
field by the sampling professional, such as the capillary fringe zone (if applicable), the intervals
exhibiting a change in Iithology, and/or from the bottom of the boring.
Responsive■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 5
