Project Health and Safety Plan
E N 6 1 N a E R I N C. Martin Metals Finishing Inc. (Former)
Stockton, California
CDIM and subcontractor staff shall adhere to practices described in the Health and Safety Protocols.
6.2 General Work Site Controls
CDIM Employees should obey all worksite controls implemented by FIP and its contractors or
subcontractors. Extra care should be exercised when working near heavy machinery, vehicles or in a roadway.
6.3 COVID-19 Public Works Project Safety Protocol
CDIM and subcontractor staff shall follow procedures in HSP-6—Infectious Disease Preparedness
Response Plan. All CDIM and subcontractor staff shall follow the procedure protocol below, which is included in
Appendix E.
All CDIM and subcontractor employees shall:
• Always maintain a minimum six-foot distance between workers, except as strictly necessary to
carry out a task associated with the project performed by workers utilizing appropriate PPE;
• Maintain a minimum six-foot distance from any other persons present onsite;
• Avoid "choke points" and "high-risk areas;"
• Do not use others' phones or desks;
• Wear face coverings at all times on job site when indoors;
• Do not share PPE; and
• Clean any work tools or equipment (e.g., photoionization detectors) that must be used by more
than one worker with disinfectants that are effective against COVID-19 before use by a new
worker.
6.4 Air Monitoring
Air monitoring is used to evaluate contractor and subcontractors' personal exposure to harmful chemicals
that may be handled and to determine if oxygen depleted environments are present. The use of air monitoring is
not required for this project because dust and vapor generation is not anticipated for the PEA scope of work. A
hand-held photoionization detector(PID)will be used to screen soil for total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs)
and can be used for breathing zone monitoring, if needed.
6.5 Respiratory Protection
Respiratory protection is of primary importance in protecting employee health because inhalation of
chemicals present in airborne dust particles or vapors carried by the wind is a potential primary route of exposure.
Based on the PEA scope of work, respiratory protection is not anticipated to be required for CDIM.
6.6 Decontamination Procedures
CDIM and subcontractor staff shall avoid direct contact with the soil at the Site; groundwater is not
anticipated to be encountered during the investigation. If field personnel do come into contact with soil or
groundwater at the Site, they shall wash the area of skin with soap and water. If needed, workers will
decontaminate all non-dedicated sampling equipment in a designated decontamination area. Decontamination
will be completed in accordance with the PEA Work Plan and will occur prior to and after the field activity has been
CDIM—Fairgrounds Industrial Park Page 11
