calm CDIM <br /> Corporate Safety Program <br /> HSP1 Personal Protective Equipment <br /> °°°1• °° Rev. 1 08/23/2018 <br /> 4.3.2 Donning Procedures <br /> The following donning procedures will be followed as appropriate: <br /> • Remove bulky outerwear; remove street clothes and store in clean location; <br /> • Put on disposable or contractor issued work clothes; <br /> • Put on the required chemical protective coveralls or rain gear; <br /> • Put on chemical protective boots or boot covers; <br /> • Tape the legs of the coveralls to the boots with duct tape; <br /> • Put on chemical protective gloves if required; <br /> • Tape the wrists of the protective coveralls to the gloves; <br /> • Don respirator if required, and perform appropriate fit check; <br /> • Put hood or head covering overhead and respirator straps. Tape the hood to the face of the <br /> respirator; and <br /> • Don remaining PPE, such as safety glasses or goggles and hard hat. <br /> When these procedures are instituted, one person shall remain outside the work area to ensure that each <br /> person entering the EZ has the proper protective equipment. No persons will be allowed to enter an EZ if <br /> they are not wearing the required PPE. <br /> 4.3.3 Doffing Procedures <br /> The decontamination process will require that all personnel exiting the EZ proceed through the following <br /> stations as appropriate: <br /> • Station 1 -Segregated Equipment Drop: This station will be equipped with a table for deposit of <br /> portable equipment and instruments. Instruments protected by polyethylene wrap will be wiped off <br /> and deposited on the decontamination pad. <br /> • Station 2 -Outer Glove and Boot Wash and Rinse: This station will be provided with wash tubs <br /> for washing boots and gloves. This includes two wash tubs for rinsing boots and a wash basin for <br /> gloves, detergent, scrub brushes, and potable water. <br /> • Station 3 -Tape, Outer Glove and Suit Removal: An appropriate container will be provided for <br /> removed tape, outer gloves, and disposable suit disposal. <br /> • Station 4 - Respirator Removal (As Required) and Decontamination: Wash tubs, respirator <br /> cleaning solution and brushes will be provided within decontamination facilities. <br /> • Station 5 -Cartridge Change Station (As Required): Respirator cartridge changes are <br /> available at the decontamination facilities and/or at the field break area. <br /> • Station 6 - Boot Removal and Inner Glove Disposal: This station will be equipped with an <br /> appropriate disposal container and bench. Boots and hard hats worn in the contaminated zone <br /> will be stored in a provided storage area. <br /> 4.3.4 Equipment Decontamination <br /> Any equipment which has entered the EZ or CRZ and has been potentially in contact with <br /> contaminated ground water or soil will be decontaminated prior to leaving the decontamination zone. This <br /> may consist of wiping down the potentially contaminated equipment or rinsing the equipment with water. <br /> The rinse water will be collected and disposed as contaminated. <br /> 4.3.5 Personal Protective Equipment Decontamination <br /> Where and whenever possible, single use, external protective clothing will be used for work within the EZ <br /> or CRZ. This protective clothing will be disposed in marked containers. Depending upon subsequent <br /> analysis, reusable protective clothing will be rinsed at the site with detergent and water. The rinseate will <br /> be collected for possible disposal as hazardous waste. <br /> 4.3.6 Hand Protection <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br />
