(California Building Code, Title 24, Section 3110B.4.4). <br />Depth markers shall be positioned to indicate the water depth accurate to the <br />nearest 6 inches as measured at the waterline. (California Building Code, Title 24, <br />Section 3110B.4.3) <br />No diving markers with the universal symbol of no diving, which is a red circle <br />with a slash through it superimposed over the image of a diver, shall be installed on <br />the deck directly adjacent to the depth markers. The markers shall be made of a <br />durable material that is resistant to weathering and slip resistant when they are <br />located on the pool deck. (California Building Code, Title 24, Section 3110B.5) <br />The pool and spa entry way first step tread shall measure 14 inches minimum and <br />18 inches maximum, if it is a convex step- 21-24 inches wide. The second and <br />third step treads shall measure 12 inches minimum and 16 inches maximum width. <br />The height of these steps will be equal and less than 12” tall. (California Building <br />Code, Title 24, Section 3111B.3) <br />The pool and spa entry way step risers shall measure 6 inches minimum and 12 <br />inches maximum. (California Building Code, Title 24, Section 3111B.3) <br />The top surface of the swimming pool and spa hand rail to the top surface of the <br />steps shall measure 28 inches minimum and 36 inches maximum. (California <br />Building Code, Title 24, Section 3111B.3) <br />The base anchor of the handrails shall measure no more than 3” from the face of <br />the second step. <br />1.The main drain must be hydraulically balanced and symmetrically plumbed <br />through one or more “T” fittings, and that are separated by a distance of at <br />least 3 feet in any dimension between the drains. The main drains shall be <br />covered with an approved suction cover removable only with tools. <br />2.Swimming pool shells must be white in color. Spa may be light pastel colors <br />with a light reflectance value of 55% or more. All materials other than <br />plaster must be submitted to this Division for approval. <br />3.When a pool is replastered or resurfaced, all pools greater than five feet in <br />depth, are required to have a 4-inch wide straight line of slip-resistant <br />contrasting tile along the floor of the pool where the water depth is 4 ½ feet. <br />Unglazed tile is considered slip-resistant. <br />4.A handrail must be provided over all stairs extending from the deck to the <br />bottom step tread. The upper railing surface shall be not less than 28 inches <br />nor more than 36 inches above the deck and each step tread as measured <br />from a flat portion of the deck and the edge of each step tread to the top of
