FN Appendix 8—Subject Properties and Adjacent Sites Summaries
Port of Stockton, Stockton, CA
underground storage tank (UST) in Building #128 could not be closed because samples were
not collected at the time of removal. By 2000, the UST had been removed and the site was
issued a No Further Action letter. There is a land use covenant (LUC) associated with this site.
The historical release of diesel at Building #128, given its proximity to the Site (<500 ft) and the
associated LUC, represents a CREC for the Site
217 ROUGH AND READY ISLAND, NCS BUILDING#217
In 1979, a leaking underground storage tank (LUST) was closed at NCS Building #217 and filled
with inert material. The potential contaminant of concern is diesel, with soil as the only medium
of concern. There is a LUC associated with this site. The historical release of diesel to soil at
Building #217, given its proximity to the Site (<500 ft) and the associated LUC, represents an
CREC for the Site.
305 FYFFE AVENUE, SITE 03
The potential contaminants of concern at Site 03 are per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances
(PFAS), dioxin, chlorinated hydrocarbons, insecticide/herbicide/fumigants/pesticides, and other
solvent or non-petroleum hydrocarbon. The potential media of concern are groundwater, soil,
and surface water. A volatile organic compound (VOC) plume extending 400 ft to the northwest
has also been identified. This site was a former fire fighter training area, which used to include
four open-top aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), a burn pit, a fuel storage area, and an
equipment shed. Remediation and groundwater monitoring are actively occurring at Site 03, and
LUCs are in place at this for non-residential use. The presence of contaminants at Site 03 and
the size and extent of the VOC plume represents a REC for the Site.
305 FYFFE AVENUE, SITE 19
The potential contaminants of concern at Site 19 are polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons
(PAHs). The potential medium of concern is soil. Site 19 contains stockpiles of soil and debris
left behind by the Navy during property transfer to the Port of Stockton. LUCs are in place for
non-residential use, including a requirement that soil disturbances be compliant with a soil
management plan. The presence of contaminants at Site 19 and its proximity to the Site (<500
ft) represents a REC for the Site.
305 FYFFE AVENUE, SITE 43
The potential contaminants of concern at Site 43 are insecticide/pesticide/fumigants/herbicide,
metals, and solvents or non-petroleum hydrocarbons. The potential media of concern are soil
and groundwater. Site 43 is a former storage area for machinery, surplus military goods, and
metal, wood, glass, and plastic materials. Since 1986, more than eight environmental
investigations have been performed at this site. LUCs are in place at Site 43 for non-residential
use. The presence of contaminants at Site 43 and its proximity to the Site (<500 ft) represents a
REC for the Site.
