EHS&S PROCEDURE
Document Code NA-SSD-EPR-PRO-5-300
Document Title Site Specific Emergency Action Plan for SSD
Uncontrolled when printed - Do not use before ensuring that this document is applicable and that this is the current version.
Proprietary and Confidential, Tesla, Inc. | 9
•DO NOT re-enter the building until professional emergency responders give permission.
10.3 After an Evacuation
•Site leaders should account for all of their employees at the evacuation assembly area. Missing
employees should be reported to local first responders on-site at the emergency and to the
EMROC for follow-up.
•Never re-enter a facility until an all-clear or all-safe is announced by professional emergency
response.
•When re-entering a facility after an emergency or disaster, use extreme caution and watch for
hazards created by the emergency such as debris, broken glass, water and flooding, damaged
equipment, etc.
•If necessary, turn off utilities to the property. Never attempt to re-start utilities to a facility.
•Take photos of damage for documentation if it is safe to do so.
•Managers will partner with EHS Specialists to determine when operations are safe to resume.
10.4 Evacuation Procedures for Individuals with Functional and Access Needs
All Tesla personnel with functional or access needs should review their work location and determine if the
procedures adequately accommodate their needs. If additional accommodations are required, partner
with a supervisor and/or HR to ensure appropriate considerations are in place.
If individuals require assistance to evacuate, and assistance is not immediately available, remain in the
designated area of refuge for the site, call 911 or the appropriate local emergency number:
If no designated area of refuge exists, wait inside a fire-rated stairwell on the landing or in the elevator
lobby and call 911 or the appropriate local emergency number:
As a last resort, take shelter in a closed room with exterior windows. Close the door and, if possible, block
the bottom of the door to prevent smoke. Do not break windows unless instructed otherwise by local
emergency services/911. Continue to call for help or remain on the line with 911 or the appropriate local
emergency number until rescued.
10.5 Assembly Area
The emergency assembly area for this facility is located:
It is marked by (describe the sign or marker for the assembly area):
Are there other assembly areas? Add them here following the format above. Otherwise, leave blank.
11 Shelter in Place
The shelter-in-place protective action is the best choice when the interior of the facility is safer than being
outside or attempting to find shelter elsewhere. Some examples of this are during tornados or high wind
events, severe weather, being stranded by storms or snow, or when ordered by local officials due to a
hazardous materials release.
11.1 Before a Shelter in Place
•All Tesla personnel must be familiar with shelter locations for their respective work areas.
Designate storm shelter locations with a placard or sign.
•If you are a site leader, you must know your headcount.
•Visitors to Tesla must be escorted at all times and are required to follow the instructions of their
Tesla sponsors when there is an emergency.
•Pre-stage sheltering supplies in the shelter location if possible.
11.2 During a Shelter in Place
•Employees should immediately cease work operations when notified to seek shelter.
