Registered commercial vehicles are identified by using County supplied identification cards which
are read at the self-service kiosks during weighing at the scale.
Primary / Main Entrance Road
Pre-registered commercial refuse vehicles enter the site via the commercial lane. From there the
vehicles proceed to the commercial (west) side of the MRF for unloading.
Small commercial haulers (pickups with mechanized dump trailers) enter the site via the
commercial trailer lane and proceed to the scale house. Depending upon size, contents and time
of day, they may be directed to the west side of the MRF, the self-haul trailer stalls, or the
commercial green waste area.
Self-haul vehicles (autos, vans, pickups, vehicles with small trailers) enter the site via lanes 1 and
2 (Figure 6) and are directed to East side of the MRF
Secondary/ Entrance for Commercial Green Waste and Recyclables
Commercial vehicles containing pre-sorted recyclables, source separated green waste or food
waste may enter the site via the main entrance road or through the secondary entrance. These
are all weighed on the appropriate scale and directed to unload at the appropriate tipping area.
Commercial vehicles with recycling loads may enter the building through the ramp located at the
southwest corner of the facility. After weighing, these vehicles stop at the bottom of the ramp until
signaled to proceed. The traffic flow of the ramp is metered by red and green lights located above
the ramp way and controlled by an operator who monitors the area. After dumping, the haulers
may exit down the ramp. The ramp may also serve as a service entrance for site equipment.
Employee Entrance
Vehicles may enter the site via the employee entrance to access the reuse area (Figure 6).
Lovelace MRF and Transfer Station Department of Public Works/Solid Waste Division
Transfer Processing Report 13 County of San Joaquin
April 16,2026
