<br /> 4.2.13 When practical, drivers should travel during daylight hours and avoid driving during adverse
<br /> weather conditions. Drivers should also inform colleagues of their travel itinerary including
<br /> destination and anticipated departure and arrival times.
<br /> 4.2.14 Fire arms and weapons are not permitted in AECOM-owned, leased or rented vehicles insured by
<br /> AECOM. Firearms and weapons in personal vehicles are subject to the laws and regulations of the
<br /> respective local, provincial, state, territory,federal and region and/or country. Refer to the RS2-001-
<br /> PR1 Firearms Standard.
<br /> • Exceptions to this standard may exist where there is a credible and demonstrated risk to
<br /> AECOM employees or assets, or when knives or weapons are required as part of the work
<br /> activity. Under such circumstances,the exception must be approved by the Chief Resilience
<br /> Officer, and must strictly adhere to the procedures set forth by the Global Resilience Group.
<br /> 4.2.15 Vehicles are to be selected based on the nature of planned use. In some working conditions,
<br /> specialized vehicles, such as four-wheel drive and higher clearance vehicle, may be required to
<br /> confirm safe travel.These specialized vehicle requirements/specifications shall be identified in the
<br /> project specific SH&E Plan and/or THA.
<br /> 4.2.16 Vehicles are to be maintained according to manufacturer's specifications and the applicable
<br /> environmental and operating factors(e.g.winterized with appropriate fluids,winter tires installed,
<br /> appropriate coolant for hot climates, etc.).
<br /> 4.2.17 Vehicles are to be outfitted with the appropriate support equipment based on the THA or client
<br /> vehicle specifications. Support equipment may include, but is not limited to, cones, rotating warning
<br /> lights, warning flags,vehicle identification (magnetic door signs or similar),wheel chocks, cargo
<br /> nets, and rollover protection.
<br /> 4.2.18 Drivers are to operate vehicles in a manner that avoids situations where backing is necessary.
<br /> Whenever possible and as permitted, reverse parking of all vehicles while on business is required.
<br /> A spotter shall be used when backing of trucks and heavy equipment presents a risk of collision.
<br /> 4.2.19 Non-AECOM drivers(those other than AECOM employees [e.g., subcontractors,joint venture
<br /> partners, clients, etc.])are prohibited from operating an AECOM company owned, leased or rented
<br /> vehicle unless the activity is specifically agreed to in the applicable contract and only if the use of
<br /> the vehicle is consistent with the terms of the contract.
<br /> 4.2.20 Authorized drivers required to operate vehicles with special hazards(e.g., trucks carrying fuel cells,
<br /> vehicles used to tow trailers,vehicles with limited visibility, etc.)will be thoroughly briefed on the
<br /> hazards and control measures necessary for safe operation of the vehicle.The local AECOM
<br /> operation will maintain documentation of the briefing.
<br /> 4.2.21 Define specific vehicle travel routes and parking areas at field sites through the use of fencing,
<br /> cones, or other markings.
<br /> 4.2.22 When a vehicle will be left unattended without an authorized driver in the driver's seat, the vehicle
<br /> must be turned off, placed into park(or gear for manual transmissions), and the emergency brake
<br /> set. When parked on a grade,the wheels or tracks of mobile equipment shall be either chocked or
<br /> turned into a bank.
<br /> 4.3 Distracted Driving
<br /> 4.3.1 Distractions while driving are a major cause of incidents. Distractions include the use of cellular
<br /> phones(including texting), eating, drinking, smoking, and engaging in intense conversations.
<br /> AECOM Authorized Drivers must exercise proper control of the vehicle at all times, including the
<br /> management of possibly distracting actions and behaviors.
<br /> 4.3.2 The use of portable electronic devices that may distract the driver while driving is prohibited. This
<br /> includes cell phones, two-way radios and other items whether hand-held or hands-free. Electronic
<br /> devices include, but are not limited to, all mobile phones pagers, iPods, MP3s, GPS units, DVD
<br /> players, tablets laptops and other portable electronic devices that can cause driver distraction.
