Refer to S3AM-010-PR1 <br /> Emergency Response Planning—Americas. <br /> 2.1.6 A system for checking workers in and out at a worksite and the work zone should be included in the SH&E <br /> Plan. <br /> 2.1.7 PPE requirements shall be designated on a task hazard assessment for each task performed on a project <br /> (surveying, inspection, environmental, management, equipment operation). Refer to S3AM-208-PRI <br /> Personal Protective Equipment. <br /> 2.1.8 Where several projects occur simultaneously, the coordination of vehicle routes and communication <br /> between contractors shall occur to reduce vehicular struck-by and backing incidents. <br /> 2.1.9 A Traffic Control Plan shall be prepared by or reviewed by a Competent Person with credentials, <br /> certifications, and experience required by jurisdictional requirements and guidance. <br /> 2.1.10 A Traffic Protection Plan shall be prepared by a Competent Person with credentials, certifications, and <br /> experience required by jurisdictional requirements and guidance. <br /> ■ For long-term duration work activities that are performed at construction projects, the constructor of <br /> the project is required to develop a Traffic Protection Plan. <br /> ■ If AECOM has assumed the role of constructor for the project,the Traffic Protection Plan shall be <br /> developed and implemented prior to the commencement of work activities at the project. <br /> ■ If AECOM is not the constructor for the project,the Traffic Protection Plan for the project shall be <br /> developed by our client or a constructor designated by the client. <br /> ■ The Traffic Protection Plan should be reviewed with AECOM employees during orientation to the <br /> project. <br /> 2.2 Selecting Protective Measures <br /> Protective measures for traffic control and worker protection shall be selected in accordance with work conditions and <br /> prevailing requirement of jurisdictional requirements and guidance.Additionally, the Project Manager,Traffic Control <br /> Engineer(if applicable), and/or Competent Person shall reduce risk to Roadway Workers by employing the Hierarchy <br /> of Controls as described in S3AM-209-PRI Risk Assessment&Management. Below are examples: <br /> • Elimination: Completely eliminate public traffic from the work area and construction traffic.This can occur by <br /> locating survey monuments and other data gathering points outside of roadways, utilizing alternative data <br /> collection methods, constructing detours and alternate routes, or otherwise isolating the work zone. <br /> • Substitution: Substitute the use of an ; Hierarchy of Controls <br /> exposed worker with an alternate Physically remove or design out the hazard <br /> method to perform the work such as to eliminate exposure before it can occur <br /> aerial photography, remote sensing, SubsfituVon Replace the hazard with an activity,material,or Process <br /> and remote control such as Automated that will reduce or eliminate exposure before it can occur. <br /> Flagger Assistance Devices(AFADS).
