Cleanup in Vulnerable Communities'Initiative Discovery Project Reference:Favorite Cleaners <br /> and Enforcement Discovery Investigation Work Plan Project Number:60688620 <br /> 3.2.6.2 Analyses of Groundwater Samples <br /> Groundwater samples will be analyzed for VOCs using USEPA Method 82606.The laboratory detection limits are <br /> included in Appendix D. <br /> 3.2.6.3 Analyses of Indoor/Outdoor ambient air Samples <br /> Active indoor/outdoor ambient air samples will be analyzed for VOCs plus oxygenate compounds using USEPA <br /> Method TO-15 SIM and (USEPA Method TO-15 SIM for residential only). The laboratory detection limits are included <br /> in Appendix D. <br /> 3.2.6.4 Laboratory Quality Control Samples <br /> The selected off-site fixed laboratory will be Eurofins Air Toxics, Inc., a State-certified laboratory in Folsom, California. <br /> As part of the standard laboratory QC protocols,the off-site fixed laboratory will monitor the precision and accuracy of <br /> the results of their analytical procedures through analysis of laboratory QC samples.These samples include <br /> designated for matrix spike/matrix spike duplicate(MS/MSD)analysis for organic parameters or spike duplicate(S/D) <br /> analysis for inorganic parameters. MS/MSD or S/D analysis is performed on an aliquot(portion)of a field sample <br /> selected by the laboratory under a prescribed rate. It is not a separate sample, but a special designation of an <br /> existing sample.At a minimum, one spike analysis is required per 20 samples as per USEPA protocol for definitive- <br /> level data. During sampling for aqueous matrices, double volume is required for laboratory QC purposes.All extra <br /> containers for laboratory QC purposes will be labeled with the same sample name as the primary sample. Tables 1, <br /> 2, and 3 indicate which samples will be the designated laboratory QC samples;these locations were selected at <br /> random, because there are no previous data available to estimate which locations may have moderate contaminant <br /> concentrations. <br /> Other laboratory QC samples include method blanks, surrogates, laboratory duplicates, laboratory control samples, <br /> and dilution procedure duplicates as required in the applicable USEPA-approved methods and laboratory QC <br /> systems.The laboratory will report results for these QC samples in the data packages. <br /> 3.2.7 Sample Containers and Preservatives <br /> Tables 1 to 3 show the requirements for analytical methods, sample containers,volumes, preservatives, and holding <br /> times by parameter per matrix. The laboratory will provide sample containers prior to the sampling events.The <br /> containers will be pre-cleaned to meet USEPA standards and will not be rinsed in the field prior to sample collection. <br /> Prior to delivery of sampling containers,the laboratory will add preservatives required in the containers for aqueous <br /> samples.Water sample containers will be filled to the top without any air bubbles, capped, and inspected to make <br /> sure no headspace is present. If headspace larger than a pea is present in the sample,the sample will be discarded, <br /> and another sample will be collected. <br /> If any water sample containers are not filled completely,the sample volume level will be marked on the outside of the <br /> container with indelible ink. <br /> 3.2.8 Water Sample Collection, Packaging, and Shipment <br /> A sample label will be affixed to each sample container with clear tape for proper identification in the field and for <br /> tracking in the laboratory. The sample labels will include the following information: <br /> • Job number; <br /> • Sample identification number; <br /> • Sampler's initials; <br /> • Date and time of collection; and <br /> • Preservative, if any. <br /> Following collection and labeling, samples will be immediately placed in a sample cooler for temporary storage.The <br /> following protocol will be followed for sample packaging: <br /> Prepared for: California Department of Toxic Substances Control AECOM <br /> 21 <br />
