facilities prior to obtaining satisfactory tests required by these specifications and the City of <br /> Tracy Standard Specifications will not be allowed. <br /> Shutdown of the City, water distribution system shall be limited to 6-hour durations between <br /> Monday and Thursday during the off peak season between December and March between the <br /> hours of 10 PM and 4 AM or as otherwise determined by the City. Contractor shall make the <br /> connections and install all pipe, valves, and appurtenances within the Zone 1 Pipeline as <br /> required and return the pipe mains to service within the allotted time period. Work shall proceed <br /> according to the following schedule unless otherwise approved by the Engineer: <br /> 1. Locate existing water mains by potholing. <br /> 2. Complete all excavations and expose existing pipe in the area of the water main <br /> connections. <br /> 3. Provide all materials, equipment, temporary pumping equipment, and supplies <br /> approved by Engineer and ready for installation. <br /> 4. Isolate the work area with barricades and other traffic control devices. Provide <br /> continuous traffic access around the work area at all times. <br /> 5. After obtaining approval to remove the water mains from service and after the <br /> City has isolated all pipe mains, cut and remove existing pipe within limits of the <br /> water line connections. Dewater the water main and maintain pumping <br /> equipment to keep trenches continuously dry. <br /> 6. Install new pipe, valves, supports, connections, and appurtenances and return <br /> the water mains to service within 6 hours. Provide a complete installation, <br /> complete in place, including leak testing and disinfection. Pipe, valves and other <br /> material shall be washed with high pressure water hoses prior to lowering into <br /> the trench and installation. Disinfection shall consist of use of spray washing of <br /> all interior surfaces with a 200 mg/I chlorine solution. Leak testing shall consist of <br /> visual inspection for a 30 minute period after the water main is pressurized. <br /> 7. Backfill all trenches with aggregate base and provide temporary paving. Restore <br /> all traffic lanes to full service by 4 PM. Miscellaneous cleanup, grading, final <br /> paving, and other minor work may be delayed an additional 14 days beyond <br /> restoration of water service. <br /> D. Wastewater System Disruption <br /> Wastewater flow during tie-in of new manholes to existing sewers and new sewers to existing <br /> manholes shall not be disrupted. Contractor shall maintain sewer operation at all times including <br /> by passing flows around work site as specified in section 02105 <br /> E. McArthur Pump Station <br /> MacArthur Avenue Wastewater Pump Station shall remain operational throughout the <br /> construction. The Work of the Contract includes improvements to the interior of the wet well and <br /> to the power distribution pedestal. A shut down of the pump station will be required to <br /> accomplish this work. During the pump station shut down the contractor shall bypass the pump <br /> station by intercepting flow at the upstream manhole and discharging flow to the existing bypass <br /> connection in the existing discharge headers. The bypassing operation shall conform to <br /> Section 02105 of these Specifications. The pump station bypass flow shall be sized for 1750 <br /> July 2007 Division III-20 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos, 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
