C. Obtain all necessary permits from agencies with control over the use of <br /> groundwater and matters affecting well installation and abandonment, water <br /> discharge, and use of existing storm drains, channels and natural water sources. <br /> Because the review and permitting process may be lengthy, take early action to <br /> pursue and submit for the required approvals. <br /> D. Monitor groundwater discharge for contamination while performing pumping in <br /> the vicinity of potentially contaminated sites. The Yellow Freight facility located at <br /> 1535 East Pescadero Avenue is one such site. Full compensation for conforming to these requirements, <br /> including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, incidentals and for doing all the work <br /> involved in this section necessary for completion of the work, as shown on the Contract Plans, <br /> as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special provisions and as directed by the <br /> Engineer, shall be considered as included in the lump sum price paid and no additional <br /> compensation will be allowed. <br /> PART 2 — PRODUCTS <br /> 2.01 EQUIPMENT AND MATERIALS <br /> A. Equipment and materials shall be selected by Contractor as necessary to <br /> achieve desired results for dewatering. Selected equipment and materials are <br /> subject to review of Engineer through submittals. <br /> B. Eductors, well points, and storage tanks shall be furnished, installed, and <br /> operated by an experienced contractor regularly engaged in groundwater control <br /> system design, installation, and operation. <br /> C. All equipment shall be in good repair and operating order. <br /> D. Sufficient standby equipment and materials shall be kept available to ensure <br /> continuous operation, where required. <br /> PART 3 — EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 GROUNDWATER CONTROL <br /> A. Provide labor, material, equipment, techniques and methods to lower, control and <br /> handle groundwater in a manner compatible with construction methods and site <br /> conditions. Monitor effectiveness of the installed system and its effect on <br /> adjacent property. <br /> B. Install, operate, and maintain groundwater control systems in accordance with <br /> the Groundwater and Surface Water Control Plan.
