Crushed rock material shall be composed of hard, durable, sound pieces having a specific <br /> gravity of not less than 2.60. <br /> Permeable material for drains shall be hard, durable, clean, crushed stone, Class 2 gradation <br /> per State Standard Specifications 68-1. <br /> C. Pipe Bedding Material <br /> Bedding material and initial backfill for mortar coated steel shall be select sand or 3/4-inch <br /> granular material conforming to Section 200 of the City Standard Specifications. <br /> Bedding material and initial backfill for ductile iron pipe shall be select sand material conforming <br /> to Section 200 of the City Standard Specifications. Bedding and initial backfill for PVC and VCP <br /> sewer pipe shall be crushed rock specified in City Standard Specification, Section 200. The <br /> bedding material shall have a minimum of 75 percent of particles having more than one <br /> fractured face. <br /> D. Aggregate Base <br /> Aggregate base shall meet all requirements of State Standard Specification Section 26-1.02 A <br /> for Class 2 aggregate base, 3/4-inch maximum grading. <br /> E. Trench Backfill Material <br /> Trench backfill material shall be native material meeting the requirement of Engineered Fill. <br /> E. Geotextile Fabric <br /> Fabric shall be woven polypropylene, and inert to chemicals commonly found in soil. Fabric _ <br /> shall be minimum weight of 4 ounce per yard and 200 pound tensile strength. Geotextile fabric <br /> for use on structure foundations shall be Mirafi 500X, Amoco 2002, Contech C-200, or equal. <br /> G. Topsoil <br /> Topsoil shall be friable loam free from weeds, roots, refuse, heavy clay, gravel, other <br /> deleterious materials, and contain no rocks or clods greater than 2 inches in diameter. <br /> For the purpose of this project, the top 12 inches of soil in open areas is considered topsoil. <br /> PART 3 — EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 GENERAL <br /> A. Control of Water <br /> The Contractor shall keep excavations free from water during construction. Contractor shall <br /> provide proper dewatering required to maintain dry excavations for pipelaying and structure <br /> operations. Dewatering shall be performed in accordance with the provisions of these Special <br /> Provisions. <br /> Division III-57 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> July 2007 CIP Nos. 7468,7589, 7590 <br />
