3.03 FINISHING AND CURING <br /> A. The finish surface shall be smooth and to the grade indicated or directed by the - <br /> Engineer. Surfaces shall be free from fins, bulges, ridges, offsets, and <br /> honeycombing. Finishing by wood float, steel trowel, or similar methods is not <br /> required. <br /> B. CLSM shall be kept damp for a minimum of 7 days or until final backfill is placed. <br /> 3.04 PROTECTION <br /> A. CLSM shall be protected from freezing for 72 hours after placement. <br /> B. No equipment, traffic or backfill shall be allowed on the CLSM until the surface of <br /> the CLSM is able to withstand a 20 psi load without displacement or damage in <br /> accordance with ASTM D6024. If necessary, the Contractor shall provide steel - <br /> trench plates that span the trench, as specified in Section 02210, Earthwork, until <br /> the CLSM has reached the required strength. <br /> C. CLSM shall be protected from running water, rain, and other damage until the <br /> material has been accepted and final fill completed. <br /> SECTION 02221 -TRENCHING, BACKFILLING AND COMPACTING <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL - <br /> 1.01 SUMMARY <br /> This Section specifies requirements for trenching, backfilling, and compacting of trenches for -- <br /> pipeline construction. <br /> 1.02 SUBMITTALS <br /> Submittals shall be provided in accordance with Section 01300. <br /> 1.03 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> No measurement will be made. Full compensation for conforming to these requirements, <br /> including all the labor, materials, tools, equipment, incidentals and for doing all the work <br /> involved in this section necessary for completion of the work, as shown on the Contract Plans, <br /> as specified in the Standard Specifications, these special provisions and as directed by the <br /> Engineer, shall be considered as included in the prices paid for the various contract items of <br /> work involved and no additional compensation will be allowed. <br /> PART 2 - MATERIALS <br /> 2.01 BEDDING <br /> A.
