3.06 GENERAL COMPACTION REQUIREMENTS <br /> A. Equipment: <br /> 1. Provide the proper size and type of compaction equipment and select the <br /> proper method of utilizing said equipment to attain the required <br /> compaction density. <br /> 2. In all cases, select and use equipment so as to not damage the pipe or <br /> other utilities and structures. <br /> 3. 'Truck-mounted drop hammers or truck-mounted impact hammers, impact <br /> pavement breakers, and similar types of mobile equipment will not be <br /> permitted for compacting backfill placed around or above pipes. <br /> B. Water settling methods of compaction shall not be permitted. <br /> C. In-place compaction tests may be made by the Engineer. Remove and <br /> re-compact material that does not meet specified requirements. <br /> SECTION 02510 — AC (ASPHALT CONCRETE) PAVEMENT RESTORATION AND AC <br /> OVERLAY (BID ITEMS 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 AND 23) <br /> PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> A. Scope <br /> This work consists of sawcutting, removing, and disposal of the existing asphalt concrete <br /> pavement along with underlying aggregate base and subbase for the installation of the new <br /> water mains and sewer mains and legally disposing all existing asphalt, aggregate base <br /> material, and other material off-site in accordance with the requirements of Section 26, Division <br /> II, of the Special Requirements. <br /> The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals necessary to <br /> construct all paving shown on the Drawings, and/or specified herein. The work shall include, but <br /> not necessarily be limited to, scarifying and preparing the subgrade, placing and compacting <br /> engineered fill materials, placing and compacting Class 2 aggregate base, applying paint binder, <br /> placing and compacting asphalt concrete, and all related work. <br /> 1.02 SUBMITTALS <br /> The following information shall be submitted in accordance with Section 01300. <br /> A. Manufacturer's Data or Certificate of Compliance <br /> 1. Aggregate base <br /> 2. Prime coat and paint binder <br /> 3. Asphalt concrete <br /> July 2007 Division III-68 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
