B. MANDREL TEST <br /> 1. The mandrel test shall be performed on all existing PVC pipe installed. <br /> 2. Mandrel Test: <br /> a. The Contractor shall pull a mandrel through the installed replacement <br /> pipe to insure that the installed pipe has no anomalies in the form of <br /> buckles, dents, excessive ovality, and any other deformations. <br /> b. The mandrel shall be rigid, nonadjustable and having an effective <br /> length of not less than its nominal interior diameter of the pipe being <br /> tested. The outside diameter of the mandrel shall be, at a minimum, <br /> 97 percent of the inside diameter of the pipe being tested. <br /> c. The mandrel shall be pulled through the pipe by hand or pushed <br /> through using water jet. Mechanical pulling devices shall not be <br /> allowed. The test shall be performed in the presence of the Engineer. <br /> If the mandrel is caught in the pipe and cannot be pulled completely <br /> through, the section of pipe where the mandrel is caught is deemed <br /> defective and shall be repaired or replaced by the Contractor. <br /> d. Frequency: The installed PVC pipe shall be mandrel tested 48 hours <br /> after placement of backfill, 1 month after installation and backfill and <br /> 11 months after installation and backfill. <br /> C. CCTV inspection: The installed pipeline shall be CCTV inspected as specified in <br /> Section 02800. <br /> SECTION 02700 — PRE-CAST MANHOLES AND INLETS <br /> PART 1 — GENERAL <br /> 1.01 DESCRIPTION <br /> This section specifies furnishing and installing pre-cast sewer manholes and precast structures. <br /> 1.02 SUBMITTALS <br /> Submit shop drawings and catalog cuts documenting that manholes, frames, and covers <br /> conform to these specifications in accordance with Section 01300. <br /> 1.03 MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br /> Full compensation for conforming to these requirements, including all the labor, materials, tools, <br /> equipment, incidentals and for doing all the work involved in this section necessary for <br /> completion of the work, as shown on the Contract Plans, as specified in the Standard <br /> Specifications, these special provisions and as directed by the Engineer, shall be considered as <br /> included in the unit prices paid and no additional compensation will be allowed. <br /> July 2007 Division III-76 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
