Submersible wastewater pumps shall be installed in an existing concrete wetwell. A separate
existing concrete vault shall be provided for the plug valves and check valves as indicated on
the Drawings.
1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Factory Tests
Each pump shall be tested for performance at the factory to determine head vs.
capacity, efficiencies, and kilowatt draw for the specified operating points. All tests shall
be run in accordance with the American Hydraulic Institute Standards, and shall include
the following additional tests.
1. Impeller, motor rating, and electrical connections shall be checked for
compliance with the specifications.
2. The motor and cable insulation shall be tested for defects and moisture
content.
3. Prior to the operational test, the pump shall be run dry to establish correct
rotation and mechanical integrity.
4. Operational test: The pump shall be run for 30 minutes while submerged
a minimum of 6' underwater.
5. After the operational test, the insulation shall be tested again as —
described above.
1.03 SUBMITTALS --
Submittals required under this Section shall be in accordance with Section 01300.
A. Shop Drawings: Submit shop drawings for approval of the pumps and related
equipment specified in this Section.
1. Certified shop and installation drawings and data regarding pump and --
motor characteristics and performance. The data shall include performance
curves, based on the shop tests described above, for head, capacity,
efficiency, and horsepower. Indicate separately the minimum submergence —
required at the guarantee point.
2. Make, model, weight, and horsepower of each equipment assembly.
3. Complete motor nameplate data, as defined by NEMA, motor
manufacturer, and including any motor modifications.
4. Complete catalog information, descriptive literature, specifications, and —
identification of materials of construction.
5. Detailed mechanical and electrical drawings showing the equipment
dimensions, size, and locations of connections and weights of associated _-
equipment.
6. Power and control wiring diagrams, including terminals and numbers.
July 2007 Division III-123 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer —
CIP Nos. 7468,7589, 7590
