The Contractor shall post "No Parking, Tow-Away" signs on barricades along the roadway at <br /> least 48 hours prior to the construction work in that area. Should the construction work not <br /> occur on the specified day, new notices shall be distributed by the Contractor. <br /> Contractor shall provide as a minimum one open traffic lane at all times, provide access into <br /> private driveways, and provide access to local and emergency traffic through the project area. <br /> The Contractor shall apply for and obtain an encroachment permit from the Public Works <br /> Operations, City of Tracy and San Joaquin County, prior to performing any work within the right- <br /> of-way. As part of the encroachment permit, the Contractor shall prepare a Traffic Control Plan <br /> for approval by the Public Works Operations and San Joaquin County. <br /> All lanes and the full width on the traveled way shall be open to all traffic after construction <br /> hours and when construction operations are not actively in progress. Backfill all trenches after <br /> the end of each work day, provide aggregate base and compact all areas within the roadway <br /> and shoulder as specified, provide temporary pavement within the active roadway to provide a <br /> minimum 12-foot traveled roadway in both directions. Provide signs indicating rough road <br /> conditions during use of temporary pavement. <br /> The City and County Fire Departments, California Highway Patrol, Police Department, and <br /> Regional Transit shall be notified in writing, at least ten days in advance, of lane closures or <br /> start of any work on the roadway. Proof of notifications is required before work will be allowed to <br /> commence within the roadway. <br /> For streets scheduled to have an adjacent traffic lane open during construction, a minimum lane <br /> width of not less than twelve feet (12') shall be open to vehicular traffic. When construction <br /> operations are not actively in progress, not less than two such lanes shall be open to public <br /> traffic. <br /> The full width on the traveled way shall be open for use by public traffic on Saturdays, Sundays, <br /> designated City holidays, after 3:00 p.m. on Fridays, the day preceding designated legal <br /> holidays, and when construction operations are not actively in progress. <br /> The fact that rain or other causes may force suspension or delay of the work shall not relieve <br /> the Contractor of his responsibility for maintaining traffic around the project and providing local <br /> access as specified herein. The Contractor shall at all times keep on the job such materials and <br /> equipment as may be necessary to keep streets and driveways within the project area open to <br /> traffic and in good repair. <br /> Should the Contractor fail, in the opinion of the Engineer, to provide all the materials, work force <br /> and equipment necessary to maintain traffic around the work area as set forth herein, the City, <br /> upon the recommendations of the Engineer, may take steps necessary to suspend the Contract. <br /> The City may then, upon such suspension, cause such work to be done as may be necessary to <br /> maintain traffic, and charge same against the Contractor and sureties. <br /> The adjustment provisions in Section 4-1.03, "Changes", of the State Standard Specifications, <br /> shall not apply to the item of traffic control system. Adjustments in compensation for traffic <br /> control system will be made only for increased or decreased traffic control system required by <br /> changes ordered by the Engineer and will be made on the basis of the cost of the increased or <br /> decreased traffic control .necessary.
