bedding, backfill, compaction, coating, restrained joints, temporary paving, and other related <br /> work as required for the complete installation of the water transmission main. <br /> Water pipe and fittings shall be ductile iron pipe (DIP) conforming to the requirements of Section <br /> 15100 and related sections of the Special Provisions. <br /> Gate Valves and Butterfly Valves shall be installed at locations shown on the plans, in <br /> accordance with Section 15200 and related sections of the Special Provisions and with City <br /> Standard Plan No. 402. — <br /> Signal repair and restoration shall conforming to the requirements of Section 16100 and related <br /> sections of the Special Provisions. <br /> Thrust blocks shall be installed in accordance with City Standard Plan No. 423 to all tees, <br /> bends, dead ends and elbows, even if not shown on the plans, at no extra cost to the City. — <br /> All other work and related improvements shall conform to applicable sections of the Special <br /> Provisions. <br /> Existing sidewalk, curb and gutter displaced during the installation of water services and meters <br /> shall be replaced in kind and in conformance with the Standard Specifications and Plans. Any <br /> landscaping and irrigation system disturbed shall also be replaced to the satisfaction of the _ <br /> Engineer. All existing improvements damaged or displaced during construction, shall be <br /> restored by the Contractor immediately to the satisfaction of the Engineer. <br /> All new water mains and services shall be tested and disinfected in accordance with the <br /> requirements of Section 306.15 of the Standard Specifications and these Technical <br /> Specifications. <br /> Pressure testing shall be performed in accordance with AWWA C-600. The test pressure shall <br /> be 150 psig measured at highest point of section of pipeline being tested, and maintained within <br /> 5 psig of the specified 150 psig for a duration of 2 hours. Pressure testing shall be performed — <br /> between sectionalized valves or between a valve and a cap. Contractor shall submit a testing <br /> plan showing how he/she intends to pressure test the new facilities for the City's approval <br /> before performing the test. — <br /> Following the pressure testing and prior to placing in service, all water mains and <br /> interconnected piping shall be flushed and disinfected in accordance with AWWA C-651. _ <br /> Following disinfecting and flushing, the City will take water samples for bacteriological analysis <br /> of the water. If the specified bacteriological requirements are not met, the disinfecting <br /> procedure must be repeated until the requirements are met. The new facilities shall remain <br /> isolated and out of service until satisfactory test results have been obtained which meet the <br /> requirement of the California Department of Public Health, Membrane Filter method and the City <br /> of Tracy Water Department requirements. During the disinfection process, it is the contractor's <br /> responsibility to coordinate with the City of Tracy Water Inspector prior to testing/flushing the <br /> line to clearly understand and review the procedures to be followed. <br /> This work includes connecting the new water main pipe to the existing water main pipe where <br /> indicated. The newly installed facilities are to be isolated from the City system until <br /> bacteriologically acceptable. The Contractor shall designate the method and sequence of _ <br /> Division III-9 NEI Phase II Water and Sewer <br /> July 2007 CIP Nos. 7468, 7589, 7590 <br />
