Section 15068 <br /> DUCTILE IRON PIPE <br /> cleaning, and abrasive blasted using compressed air nozzles with sand or grit abrasive <br /> media. The lining shall be applied and tested as recommended by the manufacturer. Six <br /> inches back from the end of spigot shall be coated with 6 mil nominal, 10 mil maximum <br /> joint compound. <br /> Ceramic epoxy lining material and joint compound shall be Induron Protecto 401, or equal. <br /> C. Glass Lining <br /> Where specified, pipe and fittings shall be glass lined with a vitreous material to a minimum <br /> thickness of 10 mils as measured in accordance with the SSPC 'Paint Application <br /> Specification No. 2" using a magnetic-type film thickness gage such as a PosiTester by <br /> KTA-Tator, Pittsburgh, PA, or equal. Glass lining shall provide continuous coverage as <br /> tested by a Tinker and Rasor Model M1 nondestructive type holiday detector, K-D Bird <br /> Dog, or equal low voltage holiday detector. The unit shall operate at less than 75 volts. <br /> Voids shall be cause for rejection. Glass-lined pipe shall be prefabricated. Field cut pieces <br /> will only be allowed if no damage occurs to the glass lining. Ends shall be coated. <br /> Pipe and fittings shall have all internal welds ground smooth and any voids or slag holes <br /> ground out, rewelded and ground smooth. <br /> Ductile or cast iron pipe shall be bored, machined, or grit blasted to remove any voids, <br /> protrusions or surface irregularities to obtain a smooth continuous surface for glass lining. <br /> Pipe shall be at least Class 53 on diameters of 6 inches or greater except for pipe to be bored <br /> or machined which shall be of a suitable wall thickness to assure boring or machining will <br /> not impair minimum wall thickness required for Class 53. Four-inch pipe shall be Class 56. <br /> Fittings shall be ground or grit blasted to remove any voids, protrusions or surface <br /> irregularities. <br /> Glass lining shall be Ferrock MEH-32, Vitco SG-14, or equal. <br /> D. Cement Mortar Lining <br /> Cement mortar lining shall be as specified in AWWA C104.
