WCOM <br />4.9.3 Using standard highway signs for internal construction worksite traffic control shall assist workers in <br />recognizing the route they are to use at the construction site. <br />4.9.4 Traffic Signs <br />• Signage shall bs of acceptable standards, in good condition, clean, legible, suited to the <br />purpose, and meeting local legislation requirements. <br />• Signage shall be secured or weighted. <br />• Routinely inspect signage for placement, cleanliness, and physical damage. <br />• Cover road traffic control signage when no activity is present. <br />4.10 Traffic Control Devices <br />4.10.1 Standard traffic control devices, signals, and message boards shall instruct drivers to follow a path <br />away from where work is being done. <br />4.10.2 The competent <br />person shall determine the <br />approved traffic <br />control devices such <br />as cones, <br />barrels, <br />barricades, and <br />delineator posts that shall <br />be used as part <br />of the Traffic Control <br />Plan. <br />4.12.4 Drivers should be warned in advance with <br />4.11 Work Zone Protections <br />4.11.1 Various styles of concrete, water, sand, collapsible barriers, crash cushions, and truck -mounted <br />attenuators shall be used to limit motorist intrusions into the construction work zone, as <br />appropriate. <br />4.11.2 All AECOM staff shall be made aware of controls established by the AECOM and the constructor. <br />4.11.3 AECOM staff shall wear the required safety apparel at all times. <br />4.11.4 In the absence of a constructor, when AECOM is the constructor, or when AECOM staff are in the <br />field alone—e.g., investigations, surveys—all appropriate Department of Transportation traffic <br />control standards and devices shall be observed and placed in position. <br />4.11.5 The work zone shall be made safe by its separation from traffic. <br />4.12 Flagging <br />4.12.1 Flag persons and others providing temporary traffic control shall wear high visibility retro -reflective <br />clothing in compliance with local legislation. <br />4.12.2 Flag persons shall be provided with sufficient breaks, and shall not be permitted to work alone for <br />extended periods as per local legislation. <br />4.12.3 Flag persons shall stand in a safe position, be clearly visible, have an unobstructed view of <br />approaching traffic, and be <br />4.12.5 Flag person should use STOP/SLOW signs or paddles.
