Previously reported water
retention between the cross bracing and the bent cap was observed. (See Photo 16 dated 11/10/2022). That condition was not
observed during this investigation.
Previously reported all of the columns were retaining water near the timber cap. That condition was not observed during this
investigation.
Supplemental timber blocks were installed to support a supplementary timber cap which partially block access to effective inspection
of the original columns. See Photo 3 dated 11/08/2018.
The original column dimensions measured 11.5 inch X 11.5 inch but are now as little as 10.5 inch x 10.5 inch due to rot and decay
near the base of the columns. (See Photo 9 dated 11/29/2021).
These conditions have been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
There are vertical checks in the faces of all 3 columns at Bent 2, the most severe are in Columns 1 and 2 of which are up to 3 feet tall
and up to 4 inches deep. (See Photos 10 and 11 dated 11/29/2021). This condition has been previously reported and no significant
changes were noted.
Bent 3:
There is a vertical split up to 0.25 inches wide vertical in Column 3 that has been nailed across to mitigate growth. (See Photo 12
dated 11/29/2021). In addition, there is impact damage on Span 3 upstream side of Column 3. (See Photo 15 dated 11/10/2022).
These conditions have been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
See Element 206-1170 for details.
This quantity includes monolithic wingwalls.
There were no significant defects noted.
The RC footings at Bent 3 are exposed up to 8 inches vertically with no undermining. (See Photo 9 dated 11/10/2023). This condition
has been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
At Bent 2, the timber cap is retaining moisture. Previous reports mention water spraying out of it when struck with a pick. A new
supplemental timber cap was installed as a precautionary measure which blocks access to effective inspection of the original cap.
(See Photo 3 dated 11/08/2018). This condition has been previously reported and no significant changes were noted.
