Employees that will conduct removal of Materials Requiring <br />Special Handling from appliances receive additional training in how to recognize <br />the special materials, how to safely remove them, and how to properly <br />containerize and label the materials. Any employee removing refrigerants from <br />appliances will receive US EPA Section 608 Certifcation prior to conducting <br />refrigerant removal activities onsite at any ECS facility. <br />6.8.6 Training in general safety topics is provided by the Environmental Health and <br />Safety Engineer under the direction of the Environmental Health and Safety <br />Manager. All of the individuals that fill these job titles have over ten years' <br />experience in identifying training needs and delivering environmental health and <br />safety training to workers. On-the-job training according to established company <br />procedures is conducted by the employee's supervisor. US EPA refrigerant <br />removal technician training will be provided by an off-site accredited course. <br />6.8.7 How frequently will staff be trained: <br />6.8.7.1 Upon hire and ongoing. <br />6.8.8 When will the staff be trained: <br />6.8.8.1 , Upon hire and ongoing. <br />6.8.9 What hard copy and electronic training and reference materials will be made <br />available to staff? <br />6.8.9.1 The Environmental Health and Safety team at ECS Refining has <br />electronic access to and familiarity with applicable regulations, <br />including those promulgated by the US EPA and California <br />Department of Toxic Substances Control, Uniform Fire Safety <br />Code, and California Occupational Health and Safety <br />Administration. Workers engaged in the removal of MRSHs and <br />transport have access to relevant Material Safety Data Sheets, <br />company Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions, <br />and attend regular meetings with EH&S staff that give them an <br />opportunity to ask questions about their job function and any <br />EH&S concerns they may have. <br />6.8. 10 A listing of the MRSH that are covered in training of staff: <br />6.8.11 Chlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs and CFCs) <br />6.8.12 Hydro chlorofluorocarbons and other non -CFC replacement refrigerants injected <br />in air conditioning/refrigeration units will be removed as listed above in <br />"Refrigerant" section.
