FCS REFI ?V0, <br />!:? 190G33 D500UM0000. <br />TITLE: <br />CONFIDENTIAL REVISION <br />Stockton Emergency Response Procedure F — 01-03-2014 <br />Cleaning up Mercury -containing Fluorescent Light Tube Spills <br />Before Clean Up RECEIVED <br />• Collect materials you will need to clean up the broken bulb: MAY 18 2015 <br />o Stiff paper or cardboard ENVIRONMENTAL <br />o Sticky tape (e.g., duct tape) HFAITNrIFoagTMIFNT <br />o Damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes (for hard surfaces) <br />o Sealable plastic bag(s) or buckets <br />Be sure to wear appropriate personal protective equipment before cleaning up any spill. <br />i. Carefully scoop up glass fragments and powder using stiff paper or cardboard and <br />place debris and paper/cardboard in the bucket or sealable plastic bag. <br />2. Use sticky tape, such as duct tape, to pick up any remaining small glass fragments <br />and powder. Place the used tape in the bucket or plastic bag. <br />3. Wipe the area clean with damp paper towels or disposable wet wipes. Place the <br />towels in the glass jar or plastic bag. <br />4. Vacuuming of hard surfaces during clean up is not recommended unless broken <br />glass remains after all other clean-up steps have been taken. [NOTE: It is possible <br />that vacuuming could spread mercury -containing powder or mercury vapor.] <br />s. Promptly place all bulb debris and clean-up materials in a metal bucket and label as <br />hazardous waste. <br />5. Put your PPE into the same bucket. <br />7. Wash your hands with soap and water after disposing of the bulb debris and cleanup <br />materials. <br />
