FROM : GETTLER-RYAN INC. PHONE NO. : 916 631 1317 Apr. 06 2000 09:47AM P3
Proposed Revised Remedial Activity .Implementation Schedule - Former Chevron #9-5775, Lodi, CA
April 4, 2000
at the same time under the same CalTrans permit. We do not know the date that the City will
perform this work, but development of the property is tentatively scheduled to begin in .lune 2000.
A vapor extraction pilot test will be initiated on April 5, 2000. GR received a permit to conduct the
pilot test from the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) .on
March 31, 2000. The pilot test will consist of a VR Systems internal combustion engine that will
both extract and abate soil vapors. The pilot test will consist of approximately 8 to 10 hours of
vapor extraction tentatively scheduled for April 6,12,19, 26, and May 3, 2000. This is the maximum
amount of time allowed for a pilot test under SJVUAPCD regulations. This information will be
utilized in design of the permanent vapor extraction system.
GR is currently working with Westates/US Filter to finalize the design of the groundwater treatment
system. Final system configuration has not been determined. Without the final system design it is
not possible to submit applications for planning and building permit approval, request for power
service, etc. We anticipate that the final design for the treatment system will be. completed by April
15, and permit applications submitted by May 1, 2000_ It is our understanding that it will take at
least 30 days after permits are submitted to obtain building permits from the City of Lodi.
Given the information above, it does not appear feasible to meet the April 24, 2000, deadline in your
letter to have a pump and treat system installed and operational at the site. Given the constraints
imposed by the permitting process, hookup to the industrial waste line, getting electrical hookup, and
obtaining the required permits, we do not anticipate that a pump and treat system can be installed and
operational before July 1, 2000.
Please call us at 93.6.631.1300 if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Mettler«Ryan Inc.
Stephen J_ Cart r, R.G.
Senior Geologist
cc: Mr. Bob Cochran Chevron Products Company, P.O. Box 6004, San Ramon, CA 94583
Mr. Marty Hartzell, Regional Water Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region, 3443
Routier Road, Suite A, Sacramento, CA 95827-3003
Ivern and Roger Baffoni, 1175 Orangewood Drive, Lodi, CA 95240
346408.07 2
