6ETTLER-RYAN INC.
March 31, 2000
Mr. Harlan Knolls
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
P.O. Box 2009
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Proposed Remedial Activity Implementation Schedule at Former Chevron Station 49-5775,
301 West Kettleman Lane, Lodi, CA.
Mr. Knoll:
Chevron Products Company has requested that Gettler-Ryan Inc. (GR) prepare a schedule of proposed
remedial activities planned for the site. It is our understanding that Prime Shine intends to develop the site
with a car wash and oil change/lube facility beginning in June 2000. Based on your letter to Chevron dated
March 29, 2000, and the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) letter to you dated March 24,
2000, GR proposes the following schedule:
• A report for the most recent well installation activities will be submitted by April 5, 2000.
• A work plan for additional assessment of the dissolved methyl tert-butyl ether (MtBE) plume will be
submitted by April 5, 2000.
• A Remedial Action Plan that includes both groundwater extraction and soil vapor extraction will be
submitted for approval by May 2000. Chevron has already leased space at the site for the remedial
equipment compound. Property development is scheduled to begin in June 2000. Remedial equipment
will be installed concurrent with site development. Interim remedial activities will be coordinated with
site development activities, and will continue during site development activities.
• Water samples are currently collected from the City of Lodi municipal well on a monthly basis by City
of Lodi personnel. Chevron has requested that GR inquire into assuming this responsibility from the
City.
• Pumping of impacted groundwater from well EX -1 began on March 24, 2000. Approximately 300
gallons of water were pumped in 6.5 hours. Pumping of the water will continue on a weekly basis until
installation of a permanent remedial system. Chevron has agreed to coordinate installation of the
treatment system conveyance piping and equipment enclosure with property development activities.
Application for discharged of treated system effluent to the City of Lodi Industrial Line has been
initiated. The City of Lodi has indicated that the Industrial Line is situated in Kettleman Lane, and a
CalTrans encroachment permit will be required to dig the discharge pipe trench. The City already has
346408.07
6747 Sierra Court, Suite J Dublin, California 94568 • ( 9 2 5 ) 551-7555
