Chevron Products Company 8
Chevron Stanon N9-5775 301 W KcWtmin Lane LOCI] LA August 25 2000
address the area of impacted soil, the contingency plan will involve evaluation of the
installation of additional SVE wells
The SVE system layout, including subsurface utilities, SVE wells, SVE piping, and SVE
equipment, including a 100-cfm catalytic oxidizer are shown on Figure 4 of G -R's Slte
Update The SVE wells and system equipment compound are shown on Figure 2 of G -
R's Site Update Permits associated with SVE system installation and discharge are
included in the Site Update A copy of G -R's Site Update has been included as
Attachment E Additionally, a copy of G -R's Reniediatroti System Plaits, approved by
the City of Lodi Building Department, showing system elevations and details is included
in Attachment F
Groundwater Extraction and Treatment
This GWE system proposed for the site consists of the existing interim GWE system,
consisting of extraction of groundwater by an electric submersible pump in well EX -1,
augmented by well MW -14 as additional extraction well Well MW -14 will be added to
the system by modifying the wellhead and installing a groundwater extraction pump
(piping was previously installed to well MW -14)
The CAO requires that the GWE system continuously operate, and Mr Marty Hartzell
• of the RWQCB has requested that wells MW- 13 and MW -14 not be utilized for
pumping at this time Howevei given the low extraction rates from well EX -1 and that
the MtBE plume has already reached the area of well MW -14, SECOR requests that the
RWQCB approve the following scopes of work
• Redevelopment of well EX -1 Fine-grained soil may have clogged a portion of
the well screen for this well reducing groundwater extraction flow rates
• Addition of well MW -14 to the interim GWE system Well MW -14 is located
within the MtBE plume and will be plumbed to the treatment system compound
• Evaluate the addition of MW -13 to the existing interum GWE system
Once well EX -1 has been redeveloped and well MW -14 is added to the system, ongoing
capture zone evaluation will be performed If the results of this ongoing evaluation fails
to show a capture zone large enough to contain the MtBE plume, the need for additional
extraction wells will be evaluated as a contingency plan Currently, the known extent of
the MtBE plume is approximately 250 feet away from the municipal well
The GWE system layout, including subsurface utilities, GWE well, GWE piping, and
GWE equipment, including three 2000 -pound carbon vessels, are shown on Figure 4 of
G -R's Site Update The GWE well and system equipment compound are shown on
Figure 2 of G -R's .Site Update Permits associated with GWE system installation and
. discharge are included in the Site t 1pdate A copy of G -R's .Stte Update has been
included. as Attachment E Additionally, a copy of G -R's Ilemedicrtioti .Systeni Plans,
077 41991 043/FRY
