On April 16,2004 pump and treat remediation began with pumping the extraction well, pumping the
water through an activated carbon filter, filling the tark, sample and testing the cleaned water, and
trucking the water to the industrial sewer. Quality control samples were taken and analyzed weekly.
kSA
XTNG B"EXTRACTION WpEILgLC g MOL E pN
IN
NT FOR U[VT R?ED GROUNSWAT_9 BAKER AlNG 4"CONDUIT
G i7 X 20 B LOW GROUND CONC.VAULT
1.25"DISC ARGE LINE TO BAKER TA
C T IST G C ROAD
BAKER TANK 2i3ODO
CA BON CANISTER
SABLE PUMP VOL.=+/-12 GPM MAX
WELL AT-W. .0-46
r
GENERAL SCHEMATIC SKETCH OF PUMP&TREAT SYSTEM
FOOTHILL ENGINE INC LOCH,CA
Over the Memorial Day weekend the pump and treat system was turned off to allow the ground
water to recharge and to recollect any contaminants that might of stuck to the soil particles during
draw down. The pump and treat.system resumed on M onday afternoon 5131104: The pump and treat
system was turned off for final closure on June 16, 2004 and final samples of the monitoring wells
were taken June 17, 2004. The well pump and tank and filters were removed on Tuesday,June 22,
2004.
Quarterly monitoring has resumed with the Third Quarter of 2004, September 17, 2004. The first
Quarter of 2005 was not sampled as we were wai Ing for a determination of acceptance. The
determination was made to sample again with the hi -ter groundwater table of this spring, spring of
2005. The results of the recent monitoring were favorable. San Joaquin County Public Health
Services,Environmental Health Department issued a 30 day notice of concurrence to the California
Regional Water Quality Control Board. The Board concurred with closure on August 23, 2005.
CLOSER PLAN
Monitoring and Extraction Wells
The low occurrence of contaminated soil on this ite indicates a zero threat of vertical cross
contamination between horizontal aquifers via the sand filter of the wells. In order to minimize
impact to traffic and business, Foothill Engineering recommends that grouting of the well casing
with a tremie pipe and capping("mushroom")be used versus over drilling. Grout mix and capping
should be performed per the "San Joaquin County public Health Services, Environmental Health
Division- Well Standards"..
Grout mix will be a neat cement grout with 5 to 10 gallons of water per one 941b bag of cement.
Mushroom capping will be one foot bigger in diame ter, three foot deep, and one foot thick. The
casing will be cut off to protrude 6"into the cap. 314"concrete will be used to cap wells on Highway
12, sidewalk and the Starbuck's drive through. The concrete will be treated with an admixture of
