LAASSAPPLIED
AERSPACE
STR©CTU RES
CORP.
A red can for solvent wipe daily storage was observed inside the marked area
around one of the 4500 Orbital Cygnus room eyewashes; a stack of metal hangers
was observed in the marked area around the other eyewash in the 4500 Orbital
Cygnus room.
The red can for solvent wipe daily storage and the stack of metal hangers was moved
outside of the marked areas of the eyewash stations at the time of inspection.
The eyewash next to the treatment unit did not have a June 2011 monthly
inspection.
Eyewash station was inspected on July 18, 2011
17. The containers of hazardous waste in the Hazardous Waste Storage area are being
stored in a way that does not allow access to all containers and viewing of all
labeling.
To the best of our ability, labels will be placed on the drums so they are visible from the
front of the hazardous waste storage buildings that they are stored in. The hazardous
waste storage buildings were designed to prevent employees from climbing into the
buildings to prevent exposure to the chemicals/waste that are stored in them.
Solid hazardous waste drums on pallets were temporarily being stored in the hazardous
waste/chemical storage area. Fencing on one side of the solid hazardous waste area had
been temporarily removed for adjacent construction work and due to the limited space, all
solid hazardous waste drums were bunched together without adequate aisle space. With
the adjacent construction work completed and the fence replaced, all solid hazardous
waste containers were removed from the hazardous waste storage area and placed back
into the solid hazardous waste storage area with adequate aisle space on August 1, 2411.
20. A 55 gallon steel drum was observed in the Baghouse area with a label faded and
illegible.
All satellite accumulation drums will be inspected weekly according to the Weekly
Satellite Accumulation Area Inspection Log(Fig.3). The drum containing oil filters was
hauled offsite on July 26, 2011 on Manifest No. 000037722DAT, Line item 13 (Fig. 2).
AASC Response to 7-11-11 Inspection Page 4
