LAA, k.-.., CORP.
0 APPLIED
AEROSPACE
STRUUCTURES
Red cans for solvent wipe daily storage were observed throughout the facility with
blank, faded, or missing hazardous waste labeling.
All red cans were properly labeled. To ensure that these red cans are properly labeled,
the Weekly Satellite Accumulation Area Inspection Log (Fig. 3)will be used.
27. A 55 gallon drum of potassium cyanide was observed open, with additional waste
placed in a black plastic bag on top of the drum.
To clarify, it was a 30 gallon drum of potassium cyanide contaminated debris and not a
liquid, that was hauled offsite on July 26, 2011 on Manifest No. 000037722DAT, Line
item 3 (Fig. 2). The black plastic bag of potassium cyanide contaminated debris was
compacted into the 30 gallon drum and the drum was closed, stored in the hazardous
waste storage area before being hauled offsite. To prevent this, weekly inspections will
be conducted using the Weekly Satellite Accumulation Area Inspection Log(Fig. 3).
A metal can of machine oil drippings was observed without a lid in the Machine
Shop.
See No. 20 above.
A 55 gallon drum of solvent wipes was observed unlatched in the Paint Booth room.
The solvent wipe drum was latched during the inspection. Weekly inspections will be
conducted using the Weekly Satellite Accumulation Area Inspection Log (Fig. 3).
Employees will receive hazardous waste management training on August 17, 2011.
Two white 5 gallon buckets of primer waste and a container of chromium
contaminated mop water were observed without lids in the Prime Line room.
The two 5 gallon buckets of primer waste are addressed in No. 20. The mop bucket
containing chromium contaminated mop water does not have a cover. The mop bucket
will be labeled hazardous waste and will be emptied daily.
A 55 gallon drum of liquid waste paint related material was observed open in the
Prime Line room.
The funnel used to pour the waste paint related material did not have a cover. The
existing funnel was replaced with a new one with a cover in the presence of the
inspectors on July 11, 2011.
AASC Response to 7-11-11 Inspection Page 7
