0 0
• Hazardous waste shall be labeled with an approved label, clearly listing the contents.
EHS department or your waste vendor will assist you with completing the label. See
example below:
Large fixed tanks (used motor oil, antifreeze) need to be labeled as well, but since the tanks
remain in place and are emptied by pump, a larger hazardous waste label with multiple
accumulation date entries is required. (see label below)
Common Wastes at APG that may be hazardous:
Used oils- This includes motor oil, hydraulic oil, transmission oil, power steering
fluid. (This DOES NOT INCLUDE BRAKE FLUID)
• -Hazardous in California, Massachusetts. (can be hazardous at any location if
contaminated)
• -Regulated at all APG locations
• -At a minimum, tanks should be marked with the phrase "Used Oil' in large
lettering. "Hazardous Waste" must also be on the tank if your store is in a
location where used oil is hazardous.
• -All bills of ladings, manifests, receipts for sale, disposal of oil must be kept for a
minimum of 3 years. APG keeps these records indefinitely.
• -Open bottles of oil, transmission fluid, etc. found in process vehicles may be
disposed of with used oil. Unopened bottles may be sold in the thrift store.
• -These are general guidelines only, for specific information consult your
regional EHS engineer.
Used Antifreeze- All used antifreeze from vehicles processed and company
equipment.
• -Hazardous in California, Massachusetts. (can be hazardous at any location if
contaminated)
• -Regulated at all APG locations
• -At a minimum, tanks should be marked with the phrase "Used Antifreeze" in
large lettering.
