Facility operations include draining fluids from
new cars arriving on -Site (including gas, oil, and radiator fluid); mounting cars on stands in the yard
for customer access; removing radiators and core parts from salvaged cars; and loading core parts
and tires onto separate trucks for off -Site recycling. Gasoline is drained from salvaged cars but is
transferred out of building by steel piping and stored in double walled still tanks. Gasoline storage is
not included as a part of this hazardous waste assessment.
The Site encompasses approximately 26 acres. Of this, approximately 6.5 acres are used for such
operations as car crushing, core and parts storage, and vehicle preparation; 17 acres are used for
the customer salvage yard; and 2.5 acres are used for the customer parking lot.
A Partial Site Plan is provided in Figure 2 and photographs of the Site are provided in Appendix A.
2.2 Tanks
The eight tanks at the Site were numbered 01, 02, 03, 04, Al, A2, A3, and A4 for ease of
reference in this report (refer to Figure 3). The hazardous waste tank system at the Site includes
the following:
• Four — 330 gallon above ground storage tanks (used oil — 01 through 04)
• Four — 220 gallon above ground storage tank (waste antifreeze — Al through A4)
Details of the used oil and waste antifreeze above ground storage tanks are provided in Table 1
and Figure 3. Site photographs, including images of the tanks, are provided in Appendix A.
Manufacturer specifications are provided in Appendix C.
2.2.1 Secondary Containment
The hazardous waste tank systems are located within 2 cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE),
aboveground secondary containment tanks within the Drain Building (see Figures 2 and 3).
Hazardous Waste Tank Assessment Stockton, CA
Auto Parts Group — Pick -N -Pull 2 Project No. 211283
4
