Forward updated and new MSDSs as they are received to the Product <br /> Support Manager for approval. <br /> 2. Ensure each purchase document (purchase requisition or local purchase <br /> order)specifies that an MSDS accompany each shipment. <br /> 3. If multiple shipments of the same products occur, then an MSDS need only <br /> be sent with the initial shipment or when a revision has occurred. <br /> E. Members <br /> 1. Use hazardous materials only for their prescribed purposes. Conduct work <br /> within the restrictions, precautions, and guidelines of the MSDS. <br /> 2. Refrain from using hazardous materials until they understand the hazards <br /> and limitations involved. <br /> 3. Ensure all containers of hazardous materials are properly labeled, tagged, or <br /> marked before use. <br /> 4. Consult with a Supervisor if there are any questions about the hazardous <br /> materials. Never mix chemicals unless trained or instructed by a supervisor. <br /> 5. Attend hazard communication training. <br /> III. Labels and Other Warning Systems <br /> A. Original Containers <br /> Parts shall ensure that each container of hazardous materials is labeled, tagged, or <br /> marked with the following information before it is accepted: <br /> 1. Common or chemical name <br /> 2. Words, pictures, symbols or combination thereof <br /> Existing labels on incoming containers shall not be removed or defaced unless the <br /> container is immediately re-labeled with the required information. <br /> Labels must be legible, in English, and prominently displayed on the container. <br /> B. Containers, etc. <br /> Process tanks and containers are labeled using the following mechanism: <br /> 1. Common or chemical name <br /> 2. Words, pictures, symbols or combination thereof <br /> C. Secondary Containers <br /> Members are required to label portable containers into which hazardous chemicals are <br /> transferred from labeled containers if the chemical will not be immediately used by the <br /> HAZCOM Plan.doc—SECT17C.pdf 10/26/04 Page 4 of 7 <br />
