12.3 ERT member shall send someone to the scale house to meet the Fire engine and
direct it to the location of the fire.
12.4 Once the Fire Department is on-site they are in command.
12.5 If the fire involves chemicals, see the section on chemical spills. Fires in
production areas should be handled with great care. In these instances
production should be manually shut down. Refer to shut down procedures.
13.0 EARTHQUAKE PROCEDURES
This section describes the procedures for responding to earthquakes. Since
earthquakes may cause other emergency conditions such as fres, chemical spills, etc.
other appropriate sections in this Contingency Plan may have to be consulted.
13.1 A major earthquake is one that is greater than or equal to 6.5 on the Richter scale.
However, since it is difficult to immediately evaluate the magnitude of an
earthquake, emergency activation must rely on the best judgment of the
production shift supervisor/emergency coordinator.
13.2 In the event of any earthquake, employees should stay calm and take cover.
Efforts should be made to avoid hazardous areas such as chemical sinks, storage
tanks, or large glass windows.
13.3 Judgment of the event's severity to be based on immediately obvious structural
damage, chemical releases, injuries, equipment malfunction, or employee
reaction.
13.4 The following procedures must be followed in the event of emergency activation
as the result of a major earthquake:
13.4.1 The evacuation intermittent horn, or fire continuous horn alarms, and office
voice warning system will be activated to alert employees.
13.4.2 All employees will immediately evacuate to their assigned relocation areas.,
Relocation leaders or ERT members may change the assembly areas in the
event of downed power lines or other hazardous conditions.
13.4.3 Relocation Area Leaders will follow the procedures outlined in the section
entitled "Evacuation Procedures" found in this Contingency Plan.
13.4.4 ERT members will be responsible for surveying all buildings for damage or
spills. Shut off natural gas main if necessary. Any damage or hazardous
conditions must be immediately reported to the Incident Commander for
further action by the Emergency Coordinator.
ERT Contingency Plan .
