18.2 Evacuation alarms n be described as follows:
18.2.1 The evacuation alarm system for the plant areas can be activated manually
at the scale house or Substation #4 which activates the air horn system.
18.2.2 An audio message warning system in administrative offices can be activated
manually at the scale house.
18.3 Available internal plant communication systems are as follows: Nextel portable
radios/telephones, facility fixed telephone system, hand-held radios, audible
warnings.
18.4 Available external communication system is the telephone.
19.0 DESCRIPTION OF MONITORING EQUIPMENT
The purpose of this section is to describe the monitoring equipment available for
emergency response. S
19.1 The following detection instruments:
A. Production Office
1. One (1) Lumidor MicroMax 4-gas meter (02, LEL, CO, H2S).
B. Safety Department
1. One (1) Lumidor MicroMax 4-gas meters (02, LEL, CO, H2S).
2. One (1) Lumidor MicroMax 4-g6s meters (02, LEL, CO, H2S) with data-
logging capability.
3. One (1) MSA PassPort 4-gas meter (02, LEL, CO, H2S).
4. One Drager Pac 1/1 ammonia gas meter and data logger (NH3).
5. One Drager Pac III sulfur dioxide gas meter and data logger (SO2).
6. One Quest M-27 noise logging dosimeter.
These meters are used for confined space entry, entry to areas of oxygen (02)
depletion, welding operations, line breaking and areas subjected to fire as well
as Emergency Response detection requirements.
19.2 A warning alarm will activate if a sensor head detects 10% of the lower explosive
limit (LEL) of a flammable chemical.
19.3 A warning alarm will activate if the Oxygen meter senses concentrations of 02 at or
below 19.5 and above 23.0%.
19.4 Calibration of the monitoring equipment occurs monthly by the Safety Department.
M
19.5 Calibration checks are conducted each day by the production supervisors.
ERT Contingency Plan Page 22 06/24/99
