OSIon;naaquain Regional7rainsit District
In addition to the above, the importance of reducing the amount of
free oil by removing any free oil from the system shall be stressed
during the said educational forums.
Process optimization, production process changes: The
SJRTD's WM team shall also continue to evaluate the economic
feasibility of conducting the following process changes:
❖ Cost benefit analysis to retrofit the existing oil/water
separator with an oil coalescing mechanism or equivalent
technology that shall further enhance the oil/sludge removal
and segregation capability of the system from the clarified
water in the system.
* Cost benefit analysis to change out the system and replace
the existing oil/water separator with a state of the art
oil/water separator, which is equipped with an integrated
coalescing plate or other equivalent and more superior
technology, which will further enhance the oil/sludge removal
efficiency of the system, while minimizing the amount of any
trapped water. Both of the above source reduction
strategies shall further eliminate or reduce the quantity of
water that is pumped from the oil/water separator, hence,
reducing the amount of hazardous waste pumped by the
contractor.
• Multi-media environmental Compliance analysis: The SJRTD's WM
team will take into account the impact of the above measures and the
use of any new oil/water separator and its water quality improvement
function as well as any consequential impacts to the SJRTD's current
wastewater pre-treatment permit issued by the City of Stockton; in
32
