• -5- <br />The emergency procedures of such occurrences are covered in the <br />following sections. <br />3.2 Routes to Hospital <br />The routes to hospitals near the site will be presented to all <br />workers at the initial site health and safety briefing. <br />4.0 TRAINING <br />4.1 Overview of Training Requirements <br />As required OSHA regulations, all personnel involved in <br />hazardous waste site operations are required to receive 40 hours of <br />training in health and safety. This general (not site-specific) <br />training has been provided to Lambert Construction/Environmental <br />personnel. <br />4.2 Visitor Requirements <br />Visitors will not be permitted within the excavation area <br />• without the prior approval of the Project Manager and the On -Site <br />Safety Coordinator. Site visitors, regardless of the approvals <br />described above, will not be permitted onsite until they have read <br />this health and safety plan and signed the plan approval (section <br />9.0). <br />5.0 GENERAL SAFETY RULES <br />a. Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco or smoking is <br />prohibited except outside the work area. <br />b. Hands and face must be washed when leaving the work area <br />before engaging in any other activity, especially eating or <br />drinking. <br />c. Contact with contaminated surfaces or materials should be <br />avoided. Personnel should avoid walking through puddles, <br />mud, excavated soil or discolored areas and should not sit <br />or kneel on the ground. <br />d. Personnel will review the health and safety plan and sign <br />the plan acceptance sheet prior to working on the sites. <br />e. Protective clothing and equipment will be worn at the work <br />site at the protective level specified by the On -Site <br />Safety Coordinator. <br />11 <br />
