Facility has hazardous waste drums of coolant and
contaminated absorbent. Facility has a tank for used oil. Lead Mechanic David Blanco states that the containers of
hazardous waste are checked monthly. Hazardous waste container storage and transfer areas shall be inspected
weekly for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the containment system caused by corrosion and
other factors. Immediately begin conducting the necessary weekly inspections for all hazardous waste containers at
this facility.
This is a minor violation.
406 CCR 66261.7(f)Contaminated container not marked with date emptied or managed within one year of being emptied.
Along the north fence of the facility are two black 55 gallon drums that used to contain coolant and a red 55 gallon
drum that used to contain oil. These empty drums have not been marked with the date they became empty.
Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be marked with the date they were
emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this
section.
This is a minor violation.
601 CCR 66262.34(d) Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days.
Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored
on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. At this facility are two 55 drums of hazardous waste
coolant, a 55 gallon drum of hazardous waste contaminated absorbent, and a tank of hazardous waste used oil. The
accumulation start date has not been marked. Since it cannot be determined how long the hazardous waste has been
on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest. Submit a
copy of the manifest to the EHD within 30 days.
This is a Class II violation.
