Doc ID: S311WS020.002
FGL Environmental Page:3 of 12
Revision Date: 6/22/00
5.0 SPECIFIC WASTE STREAMS AT FGL
5.1 Bulk Organic Solvents
This waste stream consists of chloroform.
5.2 Analysis Waste- Aqueous
This waste consists of color indicator reagents, dilute mineral acids and trace amounts of metals
(Antimony, Molybdenum, Chromium). These wastes are accumulated in individual 5 gallon poly
carboys.
5.3 Aqueous Waste with Trace Amounts of Chloroform
This waste is from the MBAS analysis and also contains Methylene blue indicator.
5.4 Aqueous Waste-Acidic
This waste is to be neutralized and discharged to the sewer. Records must be kept in the
neutralization/discharge logbook including the date, sink location, volume discharged, and your
initials.
6.0 INSPECTIONS AND RECORD KEEPING
Weekly inspections of the satellite accumulation area are performed by the operator. During these
inspections specific information is gathered about the area including the date, segregation, secondary
containment, leaks, and the initials of the operator. When hazardous waste is taken offsite by our
waste transport company one copy of each waste manifest is filed in the office in a file cabinet. Also,
one copy of each waste manifest is sent to the Cal. EPA Dept. of Toxic Substances Control(DTSC)
Office in Sacramento within 30 days. In addition, our waste transport company supplies us with
specific lab-pack inventories to supplement the waste manifests, and these inventory sheets are filed
along with our copies of the manifests.
7.0 EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
In the event of an uncontrolled release of hazardous waste the procedures outlined in the FGL
Hazardous Waste Management Emergency Response Procedures and Contingency Plan.
8.0 WASTE TRANSPORT AND DISPOSAL COMPANY
Our waste transport and disposal company is Ensco,Inc. Thirty working days prior to the end of the
current one year accumulation period, Ensco must be notified that FGL needs a hazardous waste
pickup. FGL's well-defined waste streams have already been profiled by Ensco and they will fill out
the manifests on the day of the actual pick-up. The manifests must be checked carefully for accuracy
before signing. If the FGL ECO is unavailable and you have questions regarding any aspect of
hazardous waste management, you may call Ed Bergman of Ensco at(805) 644-6092.
