STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE Procedure#: DRAFT Title: Issue#: 1 Emergency Procedures: Issue Date: 4/30/2004 Civil Disturbance I ArmedlotN L A N D Supersedes Date: None Intruder A T-We-rte!c—pany 6.0 Procedure 6.1 Crisis Situation 1) Employees must report any threats or violent acts to their supervisor immediately. 2) If an armed intruder is seen approaching the building or is detected inside of the building,the police shall be notified immediately by calling 9-911. 3) After notifying the police,the employee who sees the armed intruder shall notify a member of management. Members of management will silently alert employees to evacuate the building. Managers who are alerting other employees should be careful not to cross the path of the intruder. 4) Upon being alerted to evacuate the building,employees should leave the building by the closest exit.Employees exiting the building must take exit routes that avoid the armed intruder. 5) Members of management must see that the area is secured to prevent others from entering the high-risk zone. The Shipping Facilitator shall monitor and manage the main entrance to the plant. The Baler operator will close the rail entrance gate before exiting the plant.Only outside emergency personnel(e.g.,the police)will be allowed to drive onto the premises until the situation is under control. 6) If an employee should have contact with the armed intruder,he or she must be very calm and cooperative. If threatened with violence,the employee must leave the area by any means available. 7) If shots are fired,employees must stay low to the floor and evacuate as soon as possible. 8) After evacuating the building,employees should leave the premises by any means available,including using their personal vehicle. If no one knows if the police have been called,they can be contacted at this time. Employees must not group together on the plant premises as in the other evacuation procedures. 9) After leaving the premises,employees should go home and wait to be contacted. 10) It is important that employees stay at home until contacted. The HR Supervisor will contact employees at their place of residence to ensure that they escaped safely. The police may also contact employees for further information. 11) After everyone has been treated or removed for medical treatment,the Production Manager(after consulting with the police and medical treatment personnel)will decide when employees shall return to work. 12) After the Production Manager decides it is safe,employees will be notified to return to work. 6.2 Procedure if you are taken hostage L Issued By Jim Dacayanan Authorized By:Nick Perino Page 2 of 3 x attachments
